Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Neuzeth
Hi Laura, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my content creation journey back in 2009 when the YouTube creator world was just getting started. No one was uploading videos with the intention of that becoming a job and the word “influencer” wasn’t what we know of today, back then people just uploaded in hopes they would find other likeminded people. It was truly for the passion of whatever you were interested in. Over the years my content has shifted from talking about my favorite bands, to makeup, and now I openly talk about my nerdy interests. Being able to create content about manga, rhythm games, and being a collector has filled my life with so much joy.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it’s never a smooth road when you’re creating and posting content online. It’s quite a lonely world too since most creators do everything themselves. You also have to learn to deal with the online hate because no matter what you’re posting about, it’s bound to attract people who just want to unleash their negativity towards you. At times the struggles do get to me but the positivity far outweighs the negativity. I’m very proud of the community I’ve built and enjoy interacting with people who share the same interests as I do.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am the millennial “oldtaku” who loves reading and collecting manga, playing rhythm games, and being true to myself. Most people know me for recommending shoujo/josei manga (manga for a female audience), or missing combos while playing rhythm games. I don’t take myself seriously and encourage others to live their life unapologetically.
Life is way too short to not have fun!
What matters most to you?
I value authenticity a lot as an online creator. Whether that was being very open about discovering the world of manga as an adult, or owning up to the fact that I love rhythm games but I am an average player. I have never been shy to show my followers who I am and occasionally poke fun at myself.
