Meet Katherine Tyler of Pacific Beach & Downtown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katherine Tyler

Hi Katherine, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I originally got started in the fitness industry as an avid Pilates and yoga attendee. I was asked later on if I wanted to become a Pilates instructor and decided, why not. I obtained my certification and began teaching at a local studio in downtown. It was at that studio I was introduced to bodybuilding and competing, I decided I would try to complete in my first of many competitions. Being successful in that arena I was always asked to train people but I wasn’t certified. It was at that point I obtained my personal training and nutrition certification and began doing more personal training for strength, balance and injury recovery and prevention. I discovered that I had found something I was passionate about especially watching people get stronger physically and also mentally is very rewarding for me.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I feel like for me it was pretty smooth, that doesn’t mean I didn’t work hard to get to where I am. In this industry it’s always changing I feel if you stay true to the main goals of your clients and listen to what their needs are you will be successful.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
What I do is really working one on one with individuals on a daily basis to help them achieve their optimal goals in terms of fitness. That can be as simple as getting stronger to working thru some serious back, knee or neck injuries. The most things I’m proud of is how I make my clients feel, a lot of people are very intimidated by the gym, watching them evolve into feeling confident in the gym and being able to do the workout with or without me. I’m different in terms of the service I provide it’s an escape for some people and providing a safe place free of judgment is what makes me different.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Try not to do it all at once, slow and steady wins the race oldest saying in the book. Believe me it rings true time and time again.
