Today we’d like to introduce you to Cristai Suinn
Hi Cristai, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I became a Newborn Care Specialist (NCS), Holistic Sleep Consultant, and Safe Sleep Ambassador because I have a lifelong passion for working with newborns and older babies, and supporting families throughout the fourth trimester and beyond. This is where I truly thrive, using my unique abilities to sense babies’ energy, read their cues, and create meaningful bonds with them. I love easing the transition into parenthood by providing guidance, education, and emotional support during one of life’s most challenging and rewarding seasons. Seeing my families’ confidence and skills grow and thrive under my care is incredibly rewarding.
With over 30 years of experience caring for newborns — starting when I was just 8 years old — and nearly 20 years as a professional, my NCS journey has been both fulfilling and humbling. I started as a hybrid Newborn Care Specialist/Nanny working a mix of days, evenings and overnights, and found my specialty in working overnights, exclusively. It’s such a special time with my babies and I love that my families are able to get quality sleep knowing their babies are in loving hands. March 2025 marks my 20th anniversary in this career, and my dedication to nurturing babies and empowering parents has only deepened over time. Coaching parents to navigate their new roles, find balance, and build confidence in their parenting skills has always been a cornerstone of my work.
I’ve always wanted to start my own business one day, and my dream came true with the launch of Baby Bliss Newborn Consulting! I personally provide dedicated, hands-on support to every family I work with as I am not an agency.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I truly believe that anything worthwhile is worth fighting for, and I’ve definitely had some challenges in business. Before I stopped working during the day, my schedules were all over the place — days, evenings and overnights. Maintaining that balance was very tough, but I’m driven to be successful. Switching to exclusively working overnights was the best thing I could’ve done for myself as I’m naturally a night owl and love providing overnight support.
From 2010 through 2013, I partnered with my friend to run his car modification company as the President of Sales and Marketing, while still supporting my families with their babies full-time. I worked 16-18 hours per day for over 3 years straight with no days off, but I absolutely love my babies, families and cars, so it was 100% worth it and I have no regrets!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an overnight Newborn Care Specialist, Holistic Sleep Consultant and Safe Sleep Ambassador dedicated to supporting families with babies from birth to 12 months. My services include personalized overnight care while exhausted parents get much needed sleep, in-home consultations, prenatal planning, and virtual support to help families navigate newborn care and holistic sleep training for older babies. I offer comprehensive, tailored support, including up to 7 nights per week of in-home newborn care and education, as well as virtual support 7 days and nights per week.
One of my areas of expertise is establishing routines that recognize each baby’s natural rhythm and temperament while gently guiding them toward sleeping through the night by 10–12 weeks (or whenever developmentally appropriate for each baby). My gentle sleep conditioning approach is responsive, hands-on, and tailored specifically for newborns, while traditional sleep training methods are suitable for older babies.
Clients often call me their “Baby Encyclopedia,” “Baby Whisperer,” or even their “Baby Magician.” These nicknames reflect my extensive understanding of newborns and my ability to provide sustainable solutions that work for both babies and their families.
I’m passionate about helping families navigate the beautiful, yet challenging transition of welcoming a new baby. Whether it’s providing hands-on support, or addressing the day-to-day challenges of life with a newborn, I strive to empower parents with the confidence, knowledge, and tools they need to thrive.
My fascination with newborn development fuels my dedication to learning and growing in this field. I take great pride in helping families maintain harmony during this life-changing period, fostering environments where babies and their parents can flourish.
Caring for babies and supporting families isn’t just a career for me — it’s my calling. It’s a privilege to be part of these sweet early moments, helping families lay a foundation of love, health, happiness and great sleep habits.
Additional skills include teaching parents about swaddling, developing and implementing sleep plans and flexible daily routines, and mitigating and preventing conditions such as Torticollis and Positional Brachycephaly/Plagiocephaly. Postoperative (frenotomy/oral tie release) infant care is provided, along with efforts to build parents’ confidence and empower them with the knowledge and skills needed to raise their baby in a balanced, loving environment.
Additional specialties include sick care, baby massage and reflexology, breastfeeding support, resolutions for bottle aversion/refusal, and assistance with bassinet-to-crib transitions. Specialist referrals and product suggestions are offered as needed, alongside nightly logs of the baby’s schedule, preparation and storage of breast milk and formula, and thorough cleaning and sterilization of bottles and breast pump parts. The nursery and changing stations are kept stocked, and natural resolutions are provided for conditions such as reflux, silent reflux, oral ties (tongue, lip, and/or buccal), gas, colic, teething, colds, congestion, and more.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I like best about San Diego is its diversity of cultures, ethnicities, food and landscapes. I love our beautiful rural areas and fun mountain roads!
What I like least about San Diego is that the roads aren’t equipped to handle the growing amount of traffic there is.
