Check Out Lara Koljonen’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lara Koljonen

Hi Lara, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
In 1997- I started my degree at SDSU in Kinesiology because I have a love for the human body & keeping it healthy. In 2002 I started a Masters program in Traditional Chinese medicine and became a licensed Acupuncturist by 2008. I worked in a busy chiropractic office for a year before starting my integrative Wellness Center in Bankers Hill called Herbin Acupuncture & Wellness. I ran Herbin for 12 years then closed it after Covid. I moved my business & home to Julian California. Mountain Healing Acupuncture is now the name of my current practice. I have a ground floor 2 room clinic in Julian on Main Street and on Mondays, I go to San Diego & have 2 treatment rooms that I use at the Lighthouse Salon in North Park.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Herbin had 9 rooms and a big Integrative team. It was really fun and helped so many people.
Managing all of the business day to day tasks plus the practitioners and an employee effectively was definitely the hardest part. Then Covid came & no one wanted to work anymore so I had to close.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
The treatments that I do are a combination of massage, acupressure, acupuncture, cupping and Gua Sha. It’s hard to find an Acupuncturist that does full body acupressure in the sessions- if you know someone good- I want to know about them!

I have a passion for educating people about how to stay in a healing Rythum with each season to prevent common ailments, pain & diseases. I currently host a Seasonal balancing “Healing Happy Hour” in Julian once a month in 2025 featuring different speakers teaching their healing modalities.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Hmmm. I’m pretty open an easy to read.. I’ll half to think about that one. .
