Meet Messy Hera of Poway

Today we’d like to introduce you to Messy Hera

Hi Messy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
we started in January, 2022 after meeting at our local music school. We jammed and wrote songs for months in our drummers small music room, then after playing many shows and making many connection’s and friends, we have had unimaginable opportunities; playing venues like House of Blues and Soma, Released 7 songs and counting with all over 1,000 streams, and opened for an international touring band

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It was hard to be taken seriously at first because for a while, we were the youngest band in the local scene which caused some struggles to get shows and connections at first. The more we tried and got our own shows the more respect we gained.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a local female fronted San Diego punk band who writes about political and social issues, we were one of very few female fronted bands in the scene which drives us to represent the riot grrrl community well

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
We are mostly an independent band, but we have had a lot of help and support. Big thanks and credit to the engineers at Studio West Recording studio, the other local bands (Amelia, Jackson, Todd) The Upstate Sound (the Sync licensing company we are signed to) who helps us promote and expand our music, Charlie for helping make our new merch coming soon, and everyone who supports us in the crowd directly and indirectly.
