Life & Work with Allison Rafie of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allison Rafie

Hi Allison, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hi, my name is Allison and my family and I love to share about our many adventures together. We visit multiple theme parks and events throughout Southern California and post about them on social media. We share tips on visiting different theme parks, food reviews, fun merchandise, different festivals and shows that are being offered and more! We also feature pop up shows and events other families would be interested in visiting. We love sharing about different brands and companies that offer great products for family’s like ours. Overall we are fun Southern California lifestyle family account!

Here’s a little backstory on how it all started.
Like many stay at home moms, I was looking for a fun and creative outlet where I could meet new friends. I started my first page @DisneyTricksandTreats on Instagram in October 2019. I was an annual passholder at Disneyland and I wanted to post about different tips I had for visiting the park, plus the yummy treats I ate. At this point, my kids were so young I decided to keep them off camera and focus on just me. Once the pandemic happened and Disney had closed, I started creating content from home. It was mostly silly reels about being a Disney Adult. That’s when my page really started to grow. A lot of people were home scrolling through social media looking for entertainment and meeting new friends with similar interests.

Once Disneyland reopened, I continued making fun reels but I also started posting more Disney fashion. I became a brand rep for multiple small shops and started taking photos of different outfits I wore to Disney. It was a great way for me to support small shops, get gifted Disney attire and broaden my reach on social media. This led to working with larger companies and building up my resume. I was able to use these collaborations to start a portfolio and create a media kit.

In August 2024, I got an invitation to a Disney Jr. event for my entire family. At this point my kids had grown and saw me create content. They seemed interested and wanted to be a part of it. My older son would even steal my phone and create silly videos of himself. My husband and I made the decision to change my handle to @MagicFamilyAdventures so we could include our entire family in content and broaden our niche to all SoCal theme parks. This was the best decision we have made for our family.

Over the past 18 months we have worked with many theme parks like LEGOLAND California Resort, SeaWorld San Diego, Sesame Place San Diego, Knott’s Berry Farm and Universal Studios Hollywood. We have also been invited to many events like Monster Jam, Disney on Ice and Jurassic World Live. We also became Fever Up ambassadors which allows us to visit many local events. We have been fortunate to be invited to multiple Dreamworks events and we are officially a Netflix Family!

At this point I am trying to make being a content creator a full time career. I cross post my content across multiple platforms like TikTok, Facebook and I am really focusing on growing my YouTube page. I am monetized on Instagram and on YouTube. I am also applying for paid campaigns to help earn an income for our family. Right now it is minimal, but the potential is there!

I encourage all of you to follow your heart and pursue your dreams! Social Media has given me and my family so many incredible opportunities and have allowed us to create unforgettable memories together. All it takes is hard work and dedication. It’s not always easy, but it’s so rewarding!

I want to say thank you to all of my followers. You are my personal cheerleading squad that encourages me to keep going! Also, a special thank you to my husband. He has been such a huge supporter of my dream and continues to help me pursue it. I am so thankful for all the friends I have met and the support everyone has given me. I look forward to the future and all the magical adventures that await us!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s not easy being a content creator, but it’s so rewarding! When you are invited to an event, it’s a lot of pressure to make sure to see certain shows, meet characters and even try food. You truly have to document everything! Sometimes I have to run across a theme park to see everything. My kids enjoy going to all the events and activities. I usually just record them throughout the day and edit those videos with a voiceover. Editing takes a lot of time, but my kids love watching their many adventures.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a stay at home mom that is trying to create a full time career out of creating content on social media. I specialize in SoCal Theme Parks and events. I visit many theme parks throughout the year and document our experiences. I try to share my tips for other parents to help them on their vacations. Something that sets me apart from other family content creators is I focus on how to save money on your trips. Creating memories shouldn’t have to break the bank. I want to help parents save money and create a stress free trip for everyone to enjoy.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
The biggest risk I have taken as a content creator was changing my handle and my niche. I started my page only posting about Disney, food and fashion. I had over 15,000 followers at that point. Now I post about all theme parks, SoCal events and now my page is all about family content. My brand has grown to reach over 75,000 followers. It was scary, but it was the right move for me. I found it hard to compete with other Disney Adults posting about the newest Disney news. I needed to create content that was suitable for me and my family. Now we all get to create content together and I have unique content. I am no longer competing, I am creating my own.
