Conversations with Christine Lustig

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Lustig.

Hi Christine, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Looking back, I would say my journey kicked off way back in my childhood. Being an only kid in a pretty minimalist home actually turned out to be a huge creative playground for me. With lots of free time and limited resources, I just started tinkering, experimenting, and persevering through trial and error. My formal education then provided a strong foundation in critical thinking, strategic planning, and collaboration. However, it was post-college, with a yearning for purpose and imagination, that I consciously reconnected with that creative spirit inside me.

Since then, my path has been wonderfully varied: from planning events for a luxury hotel to coordinating numerous weddings as a side venture while becoming a self-taught graphic designer at an engineering firm.

All those seemingly different gigs, where I was always pushing myself to do my best, were actually building blocks. They gave me the confidence and skills to finally take the leap and start my own company centered around my core strengths and joys: graphic design and event management. While not a linear trajectory, each role has certainly shaped who I am and where I am today.

It’s been a wonderful discovery that when you’re working in your passion and leveraging your talents, unexpected projects arise. Just this year, I had this incredible opportunity to paint a mural at a local school – something I never in a million years thought I could do! It just goes to show you, when you’re working on things you’re truly passionate about and using your strengths, these amazing, out-of-the-blue projects just pop up.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It certainly hasn’t been a perfectly smooth road. There were definitely some bumps along the way. A major struggle was making the unconventional decision to leave a job without another lined up. For a Type A planner like myself, this felt like a significant risk and it was a little uneasy to be sitting in that unknown for several months.

But I had this really strong gut feeling that I needed to make a change. I remember thinking of it like stepping out one door, having faith that another one would somehow appear. And thankfully, it actually did! The next role I landed was a total game-changer because it threw me headfirst into learning the Adobe Creative Suite and and I immediately fell in love with the world of graphic design – a field that beautifully blends the creativity I craved with the structure and problem-solving I naturally appreciate.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
It’s funny, becoming a mom actually made me really think hard about what I wanted my career to look like. I realized I wanted something that not only let me contribute in a meaningful way but also brought me joy and allowed me to be present for my kids. So, I basically decided to build a business around the stuff I genuinely love.

Alljoy Creative LLC is a boutique creative studio offering both graphic design and event management services. One of my core values is excellence so I carefully manage my projects in order to provide focused attention and dedicated care to every client. I absolutely love collaborating with people and figuring out creative ways to bring their visions to life – it’s like solving a really cool puzzle. Fun fact: I LOVE puzzles! This love for problem-solving shines through in projects like the epic Harry Potter party I designed/planned last year, where I managed both logistical and artistic elements. It might be one of my most favorite project to date!

What really sets me apart, I think, is that I’m a bit of a details fanatic who loves to problem solve. Because I dive deep into both the visual design and the nitty-gritty logistics, my clients get this really seamless and well-thought-out experience from beginning to end. For me, it’s not just about creating something that looks great; it’s about making sure every single piece works together perfectly and achieves their goals beautifully.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I’m a bit of an introvert so my approach to networking has been less about formal events and more about organic connection. I’ve found that actively seeking out ways to collaborate with other businesses on projects has been gold. It’s a natural way to meet fellow entrepreneurs, have meaningful conversations, and learn from their experiences.

For example, that Harry Potter party I mentioned? I worked closely with several small businesses who bought in on the project and together, we created something we’re all so proud of. By staying connected through ongoing collaborations – even smaller ones – you really build trust and a solid rapport. The best part is that you naturally end up connecting with people who share your values, and that makes networking feel less like ‘networking’ and more like building real relationships with people you actually click with.
