Today we’d like to introduce you to Anushree.
Hi Anushree, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Engineer by profession, makeup artist by passion.
It took me a while to recognize where my heart truly belonged. Ever since I was young, I’ve been fascinated by color—how the right touch in the right place can completely transform not just a look, but someone’s confidence.
I didn’t choose makeup; makeup chose me. I started experimenting on myself, and soon friends were coming to me for eyeliner tricks or lipstick shades that suited their skin tone. One day, while chatting with a professional makeup artist about her services, I asked her rates—and something clicked. That moment made me realize I could turn this passion into a career.
Using the salary I earned as an engineer, I began investing in products piece by piece. I thought building a kit was the hard part—until I faced the real challenge: finding clients. I offered free trials, told clients not to pay if they weren’t happy, and even went unpaid at times. I messaged every newly engaged person I knew to introduce myself. I threw myself into the deep end—and slowly learned to swim.
Step by step, I built trust. I started with bridesmaids, mothers, sisters of the bride—and finally booked my very first bride. That feeling of accomplishment was unmatched. In what felt like no time, I had worked with nearly 50 brides and put my name on the map.
Just as things were going smoothly, life brought me to the “country of dreams”—the USA. I thought starting over would be easy with a strong foundation. But it wasn’t. The journey reset, and for the past 2.5 years, I’ve been rebuilding from the ground up.
Yet through every twist and turn, one thing has remained constant: my passion, my consistency, and my belief that one day, I’ll become an overnight success… built on years of hard work.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Struggle is the baggage you carry on the road to success.
Every step outside your comfort zone comes with its own weight.
Investing in a well-rounded makeup kit was a struggle.
Finding my first clients was a struggle.
Facing criticism from relatives for leaving a stable, successful engineering career in a top MNC—that was a struggle.
Even after years of establishing myself, relocating to a new country meant starting all over again—that too was a struggle.
But through every challenge, one thing has remained unchanged: I’m still doing what I love, with all my heart.
And when I look back, every struggle feels small compared to the joy and purpose this journey brings me.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a makeup artist with a deep passion for making people feel beautiful and confident when they leave my chair. I specialize in bridal makeup and believe that every face tells a unique story—my job is to enhance that, never mask it.
When you sit in my chair, I take the time to understand your preferences, assess your skin type and tone, and offer suggestions that bring out your best features while staying true to your vision. Whether you love a natural glow or full glam, I work with you to create a look that reflects your personality and makes you feel like the best version of yourself.
My approach is collaborative and transparent. I walk you through each step of the process so you always feel informed and comfortable. Once the makeup is complete, I take a moment to check in with you—making any adjustments to ensure you’re 100% happy with the final look. Your satisfaction is always my top priority.
I also offer makeup trials for brides-to-be, which allow us to plan ahead and finalize the exact look you want for your big day. This trial not only gives clarity and confidence to the bride, but also helps us build a rapport—so when your special day arrives, you can sit back, relax, and fully enjoy the experience.
What sets me apart is my ability to enhance natural beauty while being deeply attentive to each client’s individual features, skin tone, and texture. As an Indian makeup artist, I bring a cultural understanding and a refined eye for detail that helps me cater to a wide range of bridal and event looks.
As a makeup artist, my role goes beyond applying products—it’s about creating a safe space, boosting self-esteem, and being a calming presence on some of life’s most important days. From your engagement to your wedding day, from photoshoots to personal milestones, I’m here to help you feel empowered, radiant, and truly seen.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
One piece of advice for anyone starting out in this career: do it for the passion.
Fall in love with the craft, not just the outcome. The journey can be challenging, and there will be moments of doubt—but don’t give up. Stay consistent, keep learning, and continue showing up with heart and dedication.
When you lead with passion, the recognition, opportunities, and success will follow—sooner than you think.
