Meet Nene Young of Palpation Massage Therapy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nene Young.

Hi Nene, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Initially , I was in a neurodianostic program. During that time my head instructor was making things very difficult, and she conspired to have me removed. Once that happened I was a bit directionless and went back to working in the bar industry. Soon I began to growing weary of the late nights, and intoxicated people. A fellow coworker had mentioned she was changing her career path by signing up for massage school and on a whim I decided to attend. I was pleasantly surprised by curriculum since I had taken so many science class. From the beginning it peaked my interest, and all my mentors and fellow classmates complimented me about my natural talent. To be honest it was the first thing in my life that came easy to me. In hindsight I’m very grateful of my early departure from the neurodianostic program.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I was half through my neuromuscular program when the pandemic happened. At that time I was about one year out of massage school, but decided to continue my education by becoming a neuromuscular massage therapist. Unfortunately, my jobs were very touchy, we would work a few months and then be put on unemployment. However, because I was 1099 I wasn’t receiving much money, and I was very stressed about my finances to say the least. I thought to myself ” at this point I have nothing to lose” so I started searching for space to rent so I could open my own business the next time things opened up . That was the birth of Palpation Massage Therapy

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My business is dear to me because it represents my resilience. I’m a neuromuscular massage therapist & lymphedema therapist. I specialize in Brazilian lymphatic drainage & post- operative lymphatic drainage. I would say my dedication to the community is what sets me apart. I take great pride in helping people also I’m constantly trying to find new ways to add move value to my clients when it comes to improving their health. I’m currently becoming a health couch, and have plans to pursue my personal training certification. I want to offer an all encompassing experience by helping people prioritize their health. I have a natural ability to being encouraging and supportive, and I see how many people want to live a more abundant Life, but just are not sure how to start .

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Absolutely! I love taking risk. I’m a dreamer by nature so I’m an easy sale. Starting my business was a big risk. I wasn’t sure how the economy would play out after the pandemic. Nonetheless, I couldn’t allow my fear to paralyze my dreams.

I feel you should believe in whatever it is you want to do . One of my favorite quotes is Miracles are seen in the light, and light and strength are one. I repeat this during any moments of doubt.
