Hi Tom , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am a native San Diegan with a deep passion for the ocean and nature. As a surfer,sailor,diver, and tug boat captain, I developed a profound connection with the sea, which serves as a constant source of inspiration for my artistic endeavors.
My journey with woodworking began during my teenage years, where I first discovered my affinity for crafting objects from wood. Overtime, my skills, and passion flourished, leading me to explore more intricate projects and eventually venture into the realm of custom furniture and wall art.
With each piece I channel my love for the ocean and nature, infusing in my artwork with a sense of tranquility, and a profound appreciation for the beauty of the natural world. My work often reflects the fluidity of water, the organic shapes of marine life, and the textures found in coastal landscapes.
My artistic process involves carefully selecting materials that not only capture the essence of is subjects but also possess inherent beauty. I meticulously crafts each piece, paying attention to detail and employing techniques that showcase the natural characteristics of the wood.
My custom furniture pieces are a testament to my craftsmanship and creativity, blending functionality with a aesthetic appeal. Whether it’s a unique coffee table inspired by the ebb and flow of the tides or a captivating wall art piece depicting the vibrant colors of a coral reef. My creations evoke a sense of wonder and invite viewers to connect with the natural world. Through my craftsmanship he strives to make impact and instill a sense of awe and respect for the beauty of our planet.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a pretty smooth road coming up with the designs. The designs flow naturally through my thoughts and being in nature. I have always had a passion with working and designing with wood. As far as my biggest challenge it is getting exposure for my art.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
All of my life, I have been surrounded by the ocean. I started surfing at the age of 17 and later in life I became a licensed tugboat captain for forty years. I also was a working commercial diver, where I experience the beauty of the under sea world. My love for the ocean didn’t stop there, to this day I love to sail and experience the pure essence of the ocean.
My father has also been a huge part of my love for working with my hands and designing furniture. I have designed and built many pieces of furniture. I would save the scraps from different projects and from there is when I started to visualize designs for wall art. I started experimenting with bent wood laminated art pieces and found so many different creative ways to express natures shapes and beauty through the flow of my art.

Art is express in many shapes and forms. Each of my pieces are unique and one of a kind. I like to think when viewers see my art that they feel peace, serenity, and joy.
