Meet Crystal Camacho of Bycrystalvictoria in Downtown San Diego

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Camacho.

Crystal, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
In 1998 my family and I moved from Santa Barbara to San Diego to start a non-denominational church. We uplifted our whole life to do this and at the age of 10, I had to acclimate to a whole new city, with no family in town, no friends and a brand-new school. It only took me a few days to realize that this is where I truly belonged. The big city just captivated me and I knew I was home. Growing up in the church I knew that I wanted to above all else help others but I wasn’t sure in what capacity. As we grew up so did Cornerstone Church of San Diego and soon enough became one of America’s fastest growing churches. As I was trying to figure out my passions and talents I stumbled upon something I knew I was good at, I knew how to own my personal style with confidence and ease. This was rare in my circle and I knew this could ultimately help a-lot of people if I was able to document it. I wanted to find some way to combine my desire to help others and my true passion. At this moment in time I had no idea how to start this. When I graduated high school, there was really no such thing as fashion blogger that I knew of and I was still really trying to figure it all out.

As time passed I married the love of my life Abraham Camacho whom I met at the church. It was then confirmed to me that I truly belonged in San Diego, if only for him. We then became pregnant in 2016 and I had my first child Lux Winter on December 8,2016. They say that when you have your first child that life becomes clearer and in this case it truly did. I started to dream up my own personal brand bycrystalvictoria.com a place where I could help girls all around the world to build confidence in themselves, find their own personal style and build a true girl squad. I started this venture in June of 2017 and in less than a year have been able to help so many girls to become who they truly are called to be. Being in the game for less than a year as a Fashion/ Lifestyle blogger has definitely have had its challenges but at the end of the day being able to help a stranger and making a lifelong friend has made it all worth it.

I will continue to build my brand and I will continue to dream bigger than I have. My husband, daughter and I have lived in downtown San Diego for two years and we have really had a passion and love for our city. This year we will step into a huge dream as we start a Cornerstone Church Downtown San Diego, a church where you truly don’t have to be perfect but you can come as you are. We have started small groups and will be launching services this year. Our goal Is to help our city and the families that live in it. I know that as we start this adventure I will be able to document every single step and will be able to encourage those who come into my life.

I have been so honored to be able to do what I love every day and I know that I am not finished yet.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, but then again, nothing worth having is often achieved by taking the easy and smooth road. One of the challenges that I have faced not just as a blogger but as a woman is answering the question: who am I to deserve the trust of my readers? To that, there’s no easy answer, but this I know; I will never claim to have arrived but will always be open about the fact that I’m still on this journey. A journey of discovering who I am, what I love and who ultimately, I know I am to become. This is extremely humbling but it keeps me grounded, knowing I’m not here to impose my opinions or lifestyle upon others, but in fact I serve as a helping hand in their own journey of self-discovery.

So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the bycrystalvictoria story. Tell us more about the business.
Bycrystalvictoria is the brand that I represent. It is more than just a brand, it is a proud statement that the content and heart behind this movement is by me. The focus of this brand is to create content that is culturally relevant and positive while remaining challenging for the reader. Bycrystalvictoria is blogs, YouTube, Instagram and live speaking. One of the things I knew coming into it is that I’ve been blessed to be part of a family that is trusted on a public setting. My husband and I served as youth pastors and now our own church pastors which has opened doors for me to step on to great platform and share on topics such as confidence, culture and taking that first step to achieve your dreams. One of the things I’m proud of the most is knowing that I can wholeheartedly stand by the content I create. I don’t just write blogs, I share my story, I live through every piece of content that is published, and it gives me a great sense of pride and confidence to keep taking steps forward and encouraging others to do the same.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I count myself lucky in that I, because of this business, have had the opportunity to meet incredible people who have helped me and spoken into my journey. I count myself lucky to get to be a voice for those who have yet to find theirs.
