Hi Marci, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always loved the beauty industry and the way a great salon experience can make someone feel. We waited years for One Paseo to open because I knew it was the perfect spot to bring that vision to life. I started the salon with a partner and, after a lot of learning and growth, I eventually took full ownership and rebranded it into what is now Roxo Salon. It was important to me to create a space that reflects not just beautiful hair but also community and an experience people look forward to. Our boutique adds an extra layer of style and fun, making Roxo a destination for beauty and fashion. We were recently awarded as one of the Top 100 Salons in the U. S. by L’Oreal Professional, the only salon in San Diego with this recognition.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been smooth. Taking over the business while being a single mom has been one of the biggest challenges of my life. There were plenty of moments that felt overwhelming, but I was lucky to have an amazing team by my side who believed in me and in the vision for Roxo. Their support made all the difference and reminded me that I did not have to do it alone.
We’ve been impressed with Roxo Salon & Boutique, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Roxo Salon is all about creating an elevated yet welcoming experience. We specialize in color, blonding, balayage, cuts, extensions, smoothing treatments, spray tans, and head spa treatments (a facial for your scalp). Our team also brings beauty on the go with hair and makeup for weddings, mitzvahs, and other special events. The boutique adds another layer of fun with accessories, gifts, and seasonal finds that clients love exploring while they are here. What sets us apart is the atmosphere we have created. Our stylists are incredibly talented, warm, and down to earth, and they truly care about every client.
