Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Monroy.
Hi Jasmine, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started working in the beauty industry 10 years ago. I was educated about skin from multiple skin care lines and did make up most of the time, working alongside companies such as Benefit, Anastasia of Beverly Hills, Urban Decay, Too Faced and many more. I actually started attending school for environmental science. Later on, I became a licensed esthetican in 2022 due to my passion for skin. At that time, I was working for an organic skin care line and was in love with skin care ingredients, education and health ( I still am!). I just knew whatever I was going to do, I wanted to help others heal. I became fascinated with the human body and the science of it all. A bit after I became licensed, I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma. That experience made me fall even more in love with healing the body as a whole and really taught me how everything is connected. A month after my full treatment and successful remission, I opened up my own spa business to help others heal, wholesomely. Because of my passion for health and education, I am currently continuing my education in nursing, in hope to expand my scope as an esthetician.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Working full time and going to school full time was really hard on me. After it all, it was all so worth it. The education and dedication really did pay off and I am thankful for it all. I would say one of the hardest things was going through cancer treatments a bit after becoming licensed. Obviously, surviving is number one during that time, but I never forgot about my love for healing and helping others. That is what fuels all that I do. I also had a lot of support from friends & family and community which helped significantly along the way. I am big on community and love seeing people support others.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I love understanding the body as a whole. I focus on the central nervous system as well as science to get the skin back into balance so it can heal correctly. Our human selves are so smart and with the every day hustle and bustle, we often forget to live in the moment. I try to give them the experience of living in the moment, to help the body relax, decrease cortisol (stress hormone) and go back to homeostasis. I feel facial treatments can be relaxing and scientifically beneficial for the mind & body. Every person is unique with their own health, which is a huge factor when I am curating a facial and skin regimen for them. I specialize in chemical peels, custom facials and education. I also believe in educating clients so they feel empowered and confident in achieving their goals. Education is power and I am constantly striving to learn more about the body, skin and health everyday. Likewise, I do makeup as well and I love the creativity of it all! I would say I’m most proud of seeing the results with clients & the creative freedom I have to help others.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I see myself still focusing on science and the holistic part of esthetics. My goal is to obtain a Registered Nursing license to be apart of the medical board and talk more about healing the body & go deeper into the scope of esthetics. My number one goal is to help others in all aspects, from health to their confidence. I would love to be an educator at some point and even mentor other estheticians. I guess it’s a good thing I like to talk a lot lol
