Today we’d like to introduce you to Isaac Barquero.
Hi Isaac, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey really started with my father, who was a tailor. I grew up around the craft, watching the way he transformed fabrics into garments and how much pride he put into every detail. What began as a family business eventually became the foundation for my own path.
We wanted to take what my father had built and branch out into a new venture—expanding beyond tailoring into a retail store of our own. It was a big step, but one that allowed us to blend tradition with new ideas and create a brand that felt modern while still rooted in craftsmanship.
Slowly, we began to grow. We started building a clientele one person at a time, and that growth allowed us to expand from a small 600-square-foot shop into a double-suite retail store right in the center of our business complex.
Looking back, it’s been a steady progression—built on family values, passion for fashion, and a commitment to giving clients an experience that goes beyond just clothing. Today, I’m proud that Robert’s Men’s Suits carries forward my father’s legacy while also standing as something unique of its own.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road, and I don’t think entrepreneurship ever is. When we first branched out from my father’s tailor shop into our own retail space, there were a lot of challenges—everything from learning how to manage a storefront to making sure we could stand out in a competitive market.
This is how I know the struggle is truly real: during the genesis of our new business venture, my family and I were not only trying to build a business, but also navigating some of the hardest personal battles of our lives. My mom was facing health issues—cancer, to be exact—and at the same time, we were in the process of losing our home due to financial hardship. It wasn’t a smooth ride balancing both her health and the demands of starting a business.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
what we do is all about helping people feel their best. We focus on custom menswear, which means every suit is built around the person wearing it — their style, their story, and how they want to present themselves. It’s not just about measurements and fabric; it’s about creating something that feels personal.
What I’m most proud of is the trust we’ve built with our clients. When someone comes to us for a wedding, an important event, or even just to elevate their everyday look, they’re trusting us with a big moment in their life. Seeing the confidence on their face when they put on a suit we’ve created — that’s the best part of what I do.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
id say its being true to your client is by far been my key to success. i can look at a client and tell them the truth about something whether it be harsh or inconvenient, and not just for them. there are times where i guide my client to do their business elsewhere if i dont have the product they need or looking for. i love to help and guide people to what they want and need weather it impacts me or not. and i feel how reciprocal it is because i see that same client write me a nice review or comeback for other services i offer. in a business like ours, men’s formal wear can be intimating especially if its their first suit. i try to keep it humble and informative.
