Today we’d like to introduce you to Robin Jones.
Hi Robin, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I always wanted to become a doctor, I just didn’t realize the circuitous route I would take to get here. When I was younger, my path was always medical school. I watched General Hospital as a 2-year old in Korea and loved shows like ER and Grey’s Anatomy so when I got to UCSD for college I chose Animal Physiology and Neuroscience as a major. Naturally. But one summer term, I decided to take an express summer course in Organic Chemistry and the trajectory of my career took a complete 180. It was the first time I sat in a classroom completely lost – that’s what I guess happens when you take 16-weeks of lecture and try to cram it into 4-weeks of intensive learning. Needless to say, I changed majors and chose one of the only liberal arts degrees my college offered at the time, Communications. Gone was the dream to become a doctor, join the Peace Corps and help communities that really needed medical services. All because of one class.
From there, I thought I’d become a news anchor. After graduating from UCSD in 2000 I took courses at the local community college on journalism for TV then quickly learned that career would require me to move to the middle of nowhere to get my foot in the door. That didn’t feel like the right fit, so I did as all new graduates did and applied to all the companies that felt relevant to my degree. My first interview was with Pinnfund for a Community Relations Manager position that I was sure was THE dream job. So when I didn’t get it, I landed a position at an investment firm — one industry I swore I would never work in because I saw the long hours my mom devoted to a career in this profession. But I took the position anyway. Learned a ton about finance and the stock market and how to use Microsoft Excel but I wasn’t convinced this was the career for me so I took advantage of the educational benefit and got my MBA from Pepperdine University. At the end of the two year program I came to a crossroads. I had a job offer at a larger investment firm that paid really well and I could have probably retired from in 40 years or a job offer from Charlotte Russe, the leader in fast fashion at the time, for a significant paycut. I took the paycut.
I loved my career in Operations Management in fashion – I was opening new stores, merchandising, working with buyers and marketing teams and learning skills important for building teams. DREAM JOB STATUS FOUND. Then I met my husband, Seth. When we got engaged we had the opportunity to take over a family business in environmental consulting, Marine Taxonomic Services, so I took the leap and left my actual dream job to work alongside him – it was both challenging and exciting and the entrepreneurial bug caught us so we also started an online vintage car part business on eBay, Jones Vintage Parts, a property management company, WDCS, took over a children’s clothing company brand, Havengirl, and opened a barre3 fitness studio over the past 15 years together.
But after COVID shut down our children’s clothing company and I transitioned my barre3 fitness studio to a former instructor, I kept searching for my next endeavor. I landed back in school and obtained my Doctorate in Acupuncture with a specialization in Chinese herbal medicine in 2024. FULL CIRCLE MOMENT – it was not the medicine I thought I was going to study as a kid but it is definitely the medicine I know I was born to practice.
After getting board certified in 2025, I founded Everwell Acupuncture in Solana Beach, CA where our mission is to increase accessibility to root-cause, personalized care while educating and inspiring our community to live in vitality— with energy, clarity, and a sense of aliveness. Our vision is to redefine what healthcare looks like—where prevention is prioritized, suffering isn’t normalized, and every person is supported in living the life they were truly meant to live.
Just recently, our environmental consulting firm was acquired by N|V|5, signifying the closing of one chapter in my life simultaneous with the opening of a new. I am passionate about making Chinese medicine more accessible so we can truly create a future where integrative medicine is a reality. Serving those who need it the most, is at the heart of why I do what I do.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
So many bumps in the road, but what journey is absent of a little redirection?!
Early on in our startup process we got sued for not tracking meals and breaks for employees so we learned a valuable lesson that being flexible and nice didn’t protect us from employee liability.
Also in the beginning we had to sacrifice our own pay/salary to make ends meet for the business – we couldn’t predict how it was all going to shake out but we took the leap of faith anyway and that was definitely scary!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Currently, I am in love with my vocation as a Chinese medicine practitioner. I believe the future of medicine relies on the integration of a spectrum of modalities that connect Eastern Medicine to Western Medicine and everything in between, including chiropractic care, physical therapy, and naturopathy. And I believe that true integrative medicine requires a curiosity among practitioners to educate themselves on other modalities that can best serve their patients – it’s my mission to educate myself and others on how we can work together.
The current system needs rework – a heightened focus on preventive care to hedge the future of chronic degenerative disease. This is where expanding access to Chinese medicine can make a huge impact. Our mission at Everwell Acupuncture is to increase accessibility to root-cause, personalized care while educating and inspiring our community to live in vitality— with energy, clarity, and a sense of aliveness. Our vision is to redefine what healthcare looks like—where prevention is prioritized, suffering isn’t normalized, and every person is supported in living the life they were truly meant to live.
What sets us apart is that Everwell was founded on a simple but radical idea: that true healing happens when people feel deeply seen, heard, and cared for. From the very first interaction, our clients are welcomed not just into a practice, but into a sanctuary. One where empathy guides the process, and every detail is designed to help them slow down, exhale, and reconnect with themselves.
We believe that health isn’t a destination, but rather a relationship. One that requires trust, consistency, and space to be understood in full. At Everwell, every treatment begins with intentional listening. There is no rushing, no one-size-fits-all approach. Just presence, partnership, and personalized care.
Our clinical approach blends evidence-based acupuncture with the wisdom of Classical Chinese Medicine, addressing not only physical symptoms but the underlying imbalances at their root. Whether someone is navigating chronic pain, anxiety, hormonal shifts, or a vague sense of being “off,” we meet them with curiosity and care— treating the whole person: body, mind, and spirit.
I am most proud of offering a space where patients are truly seen and heard. A space where we can provide a path for meaningful change so that our patients can live their lives resilient to the human experience with the capacity for limitless joy free from the limitations of physical, emotional or mental pain.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I am an open book so I feel like most people know most things about me but if I had to pick, I’d say most people don’t know that I once co-owned a children’s clothing company that manufactured in Bali, I learned how to speak Tagalog fluently through karaoke, and I’ve been to every continent in the world except Antarctica (it’s on the list!).
