Daily Inspiration: Meet Teri Brooks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Teri Brooks.

Teri , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Blitz Board Stats started on a whiteboard four years ago, after countless flag football seasons spent tracking stats from the sidelines. As a mom of two young athletes and a coach’s wife, I became the stat keeper for every team my family touched. Game after game, I found myself juggling paper notes, intake forms, trackers, and dashboards, tools that highlighted effort, gave coaches and parents visibility into who touched the ball, and helped kids get the recognition they deserved.

One day, a parent on two of our teams said, “You should build your own app.” At the time, nothing existed that was simple, compliant, and built for youth sports. So I took that challenge seriously.

What followed was a multi-season collaboration with coaches, players, and parents. Our test teams shaped every detail, from stat logic and scheduling to roster management and communication. Their input made the platform what it is today: intuitive, standards-aligned, and simple.

Blitz Board Stats isn’t just a product, it’s a reflection of the community that built it. Every feature is designed to honor the time, effort, and heart that families pour into youth sports. We’re proud to launch with a platform that makes stats simple, stories powerful, and impact visible.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been a winding, humbling road, and every bump has shaped Blitz Board Stats into what it is today.

I didn’t come from a SaaS background, so building a platform from scratch meant learning everything on the fly: product logic, compliance, UI flows, developer documentation, you name it. There were moments of overwhelm, especially trying to translate real-world stat chaos into clean, scalable workflows. We had amazing support and mentorship along the way, including James Quazi, whose guidance helped me navigate the unknowns with clarity and confidence.

We also owe a huge debt to the talented developers, Natnael and Rewina, whom we connected with through Upworks. Their technical expertise and collaborative spirit helped bring this vision to life with precision and care.

The above partnered with co-founder, Janice Grimsley. Her unwavering support, operational insight, and belief in our mission kept us grounded through every pivot and push. She’s been a true partner in building something that reflects the heart of youth sports.

Blitz Board Stats is the result of all of it, struggles, mentorship, teamwork, and relentless iteration. It’s not just a product. It’s a labor of love built by and for the community it serves.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’ve been with AMN Healthcare for over 18 years, and I currently serve in a supplier strategy role where I get to partner with smaller healthcare staffing firms to help them grow, streamline operations, and drive mutual success. It’s a space filled with brilliant, passionate people, and I feel incredibly fortunate to collaborate with such a dynamic network of professionals.

My time at AMN has immersed me in the complexities of workforce management, compliance, and scalable systems, experience that’s been foundational to how I’ve approached building Blitz Board Stats. While the industries are different, the core principles remain the same: clarity, trust, and service.

At AMN, I’ve led initiatives that require precision, cross-functional collaboration, and a deep understanding of how systems support people. Those same skills have shaped the way Blitz Board Stats is built, from stat logic and field layouts to sponsor storytelling and user onboarding.

Balancing both roles has been a challenge, but also a gift. AMN continues to sharpen my operational lens, while Blitz Board Stats deepens my passion for community-driven impact. Together, they’ve helped me grow into a founder who builds with empathy, discipline, and a clear sense of purpose.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I love most about San Diego is the weather, hands down. I’m originally from Minnesota, so waking up to sunshine and ocean air never gets old! Beyond the climate, it’s the people that make this place feel like home. Southern California has given me incredible friendships, professional connections, and a sense of community that’s hard to put into words.

I’ve been fortunate to grow personally and professionally here, and I truly love it. As for areas of opportunity, I think there’s still so much potential to strengthen local collaboration, whether it’s in youth sports, tech, or community-driven initiatives. I’m always looking for ways to contribute and connect more deeply.
