Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with nicole sandvig of Temecula

nicole sandvig shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning nicole, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? When was the last time you felt true joy?
I was shopping at Trader Joe’s and a little bit ran up and hugged my leg . His mom apologized and I said no worries he probably could tell I’m a mom and she said “no you have good vibes “ . Made my day

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Nicole Sandvig , owner of a salon suite in Temecula Ca . I am a color and haircutting specialist with over 18 years experience. Doing hair in this valley has been a true privilege. It’s not just about hair , it’s about the connections you make . If you are sitting in my chair , know you are well taken care of from your hair, to your heart.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
I assisted under 3 hairdressers for over a year . Each very different . The owner who was a complete boss and ran her business so well to a structured hair cutter and last an artist who showed me how to have fun with hair . When I moved from that salon, I got a job at a large salon where I was truly uplifted in my career with education and I will never forget that.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I had knee reconstruction and was out of work for months . For a hairdresser that is terrifying and at times I couldn’t see through the fog . It was a long road but I’m glad I didn’t give up .

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
That hairdressing can’t make a good income ! Let’s shift that narrative . It takes years of work to get there but it can be done .

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
I think most would say being able to sit and feel comfortable knowing they can trust me with their hair . Most just say “do whatever you think “. That’s HUGE !
