Story & Lesson Highlights with Nancy Halladay of North County

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Nancy Halladay. Check out our conversation below.

Nancy, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
I’m being called to step forward in bold faith and lead in ways I once felt unqualified to. For years, I quietly carried a passion to help women heal after deep betrayal, but fear and doubt kept me from believing I could build something that would truly make a difference. Founding this non-profit has been an act of courage—answering the call to use my own story, creativity, and compassion to help other women rebuild their lives and spaces with dignity and hope. I’m learning to trust that the very things that once broke me have become the foundation for helping others rise.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m the founder of a non-profit organization that helps women reclaim their lives after the devastation of a partner’s addiction, infidelity, or abandonment. Through our work, we create beautiful, healing spaces that reflect each woman’s strength, worth, and individuality. What makes our mission unique is that we don’t just provide furnishings or décor—we help rebuild confidence, identity, and a sense of home after heartbreak.

This work grew out of my own story and the realization that healing isn’t just emotional—it’s also about surrounding yourself with beauty and belonging. Right now, we’re focused on transforming more spaces for women starting over, and expanding awareness so that hope and restoration reach even more homes.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship that has most shaped how I see myself is my relationship with Jesus. For much of my life, I didn’t realize how desperately I needed Him—how His presence could meet me in the places no one else could reach. It wasn’t until I walked through deep heartbreak and loss that I truly encountered His grace and rescue.

In that season, I learned that faith isn’t just about belief—it’s about surrender. Jesus met me in the middle of my pain, not after I had it all together. He reminded me that I am loved, seen, and never beyond redemption. That truth reshaped everything about how I view myself and others.

Now, I see faith as a daily rescue—one that lifts me out of fear and shame and calls me into purpose and peace. Jesus didn’t just heal the broken pieces of my story; He gave them meaning. And that’s why I live and serve the way I do today—because I know firsthand how powerful His love is to restore what was once lost.

What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
The defining wound of my life was the heartbreak I experienced in my marriage. It broke something deep within me—my trust, my sense of worth, and the picture I had of what my life would be. For a long time, I tried to hold everything together on my own, but true healing began when I surrendered it all to Jesus.

Through His grace, I found restoration—piece by piece. He reminded me that my value wasn’t tied to someone else’s choices, but to His love for me. That truth changed everything.

Out of that healing came my non-profit, ND Restore, which helps women reclaim their lives after betrayal, addiction, or abandonment. In helping others rebuild their spaces and their sense of self, I’ve found a deeper kind of healing for my own heart. What was once my greatest wound has become the foundation of my calling—and a testimony to how God can turn pain into purpose.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
A cultural value I protect at all costs is the power of genuine friendship—especially among women. I believe there is something sacred about women coming alongside one another in seasons of pain, loss, and rebuilding. When we choose compassion over comparison and community over isolation, healing begins to take root.

I’ve seen firsthand how powerful it is when women tend to each other’s wounds with empathy and grace. Friendship has the power to remind us who we are when we’ve forgotten, to hold hope for us when we can’t hold it ourselves. In my life and in my work, I want to keep creating spaces where women lift one another up, reminding each other that we’re never alone in the hard places.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
If I laid down my name, role, and possessions, what I would want to remain is a legacy of kindness. I hope to be remembered as someone who pointed others toward God, who showed His love through compassion and grace. I want people to say that I helped carry their burdens when they were too heavy to bear alone—that I made their path a little lighter, their life a little easier.

In the end, titles and things fade, but love endures. If my life can reflect even a small glimpse of God’s kindness and care, then I’ve lived well.
