We’re looking forward to introducing you to Leticia Demeuse. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Leticia, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
My first 90 minutes set the tone for my day. I try to stay off my phone for the first hour to keep my mind clear and focused. I usually start with journaling and reading about ten minutes of a good book — something that inspires me or helps me grow. Then I review my planner to organize priorities for the day. I also love taking my dog for a walk — it’s my time to be outdoors, move a little, and set a positive mindset for the day
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Leticia Demeuse — a Brazilian-born, San Diego–based artist creating contemporary abstract paintings that blend emotion, movement, and nature. My work is deeply intuitive, inspired by dreams, energy, and the beauty of organic forms.
After years of painting from home, opening my studio in San Elijo Hills has been a dream come true — a space where creativity flows freely and where I love welcoming collectors, designers, and art lovers to connect and experience my work in person.
Each piece I create carries a sense of calm, depth, and emotion — an invitation to pause, feel, and be inspired.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
When I turned 40, something shifted. It wasn’t one specific moment, but a gradual awakening — a new way of seeing the world and myself. I began to understand that how people treat you has little to do with you and everything to do with who they are, the experiences they’ve had, and the lenses through which they see the world. That realization brought me peace and freedom.
During the pandemic, I started diving deep into personal growth and energy work — exploring quantum physics and following teachers like Dr. Joe Dispenza and Tony Robbins. I even joined Unleash the Power Within online, which was such a powerful experience. It opened my eyes to how much our thoughts and emotions shape our reality, and how serving others and leading with intention can transform your life.
That inner work continues to influence not just how I live, but how I paint. My art became a reflection of this understanding — that everything is energy, that beauty and meaning come from within, and that we’re all connected in ways that go beyond what we can see.
Is there something you miss that no one else knows about?
Something most people don’t know about me is that I’m originally from Brazil, and I’m the only one from my family who lives in the U.S. As much as I love my life and art community here, I miss my parents deeply. Being far from them has taught me to appreciate the small moments we share — the calls, the laughter, the memories — and it’s also given me a deeper sense of gratitude for connection, belonging, and home. That longing and love often find their way into my art in subtle, emotional ways.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
The cultural value I protect at all costs is the love and warmth of my Brazilian roots. There’s a deep sense of connection, generosity, and joy in the way people in Brazil care for one another — that feeling of always being welcome, always belonging. I carry that with me in everything I do, from how I connect with collectors and collaborators to how I approach my art. I want people to feel that warmth and heart when they’re around me or my work
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
One of the most exciting moments in my career was being invited to be the artist in residence at Nobu Los Cabos. It felt like such a dream — creating and showcasing my work in a place where art, design, and nature come together so beautifully. Every day, I painted while overlooking the ocean, surrounded by the peaceful energy of the resort. Guests would stop by to watch, ask questions, and connect with my creative process, which made the experience even more meaningful.
It was a moment of pure alignment — doing what I love, in a place that felt inspiring and soulful. That residency reminded me how far I’ve come, and how art can truly transcend borders and connect people from all over the world.
