Glenda Castro shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Glenda, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about your customers?
The trust I have with each of my clients is unparalleled; that bond we share is unmatched. I don’t really call my clients customers because I see them more as friends, Something that does surprise me and fills me with joy is the love I feel from them towards me.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Since my interview in 2019, so many wonderful things have happened in my life. I had a daughter, and I can proudly say that being certified to apply lashes is amazing, but the title of being a mom is incomparable. I’ve grown as a person, as a mother, and as a businesswoman. Fabulash.sd is and will always be the best thing that’s ever happened to me. Fabulash.sd was created in 2017 since then my business has grown exponentially. I established my business in Chula Vista Ca, and it grew so much that I went back to school in 2023 to update my skills and added waxing, lash lifts, brow lamination, and brow tinting. I don’t see what I do as work because I enjoy spending time with my clients, chatting and talking about our lives. I’m incredibly happy at this stage of my life with my daughter, my family, and doing what I love most.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
I can proudly say that I come from a family of immigrants with many dreams ahead of them, who fight until they achieve what they want. My dad has his own paint company, my mom has her jewelry company, so working for your dreams is something that was instilled in me from a young age. But the one who pushed me to fulfill this dream called Fabulash.sd was my husband and I will always be grateful to him for that. I come from a very hardworking family, and this is something I will instill in my daughter.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Glenda, you’re amazing, a brave and determined woman. If someone had told you in 2017 what you are today, you wouldn’t have believed it. And I know you’ll be even greater than you can imagine. I hope the rest of 2025 is wonderful, and get ready for the extraordinary 2026!
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
When people say that eyelash extensions are no longer in style, it makes me sad because everyone has different tastes. I have clients with different preferences for eyelashes, from classic to mega volume, and the eyelash trend will never end. It’s true some people are moving away from extensions due to cost, but many still use them and prefer lighter, more natural looks.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
Definitely my laughter, our conversations, and my adventurous way of thinking. But I know you’ll also miss me for the fast-paced way I work; I can do three things at once: chat, laugh, and work. The way I treat my clients is unmatched; we often become friends.
