Hi Danielle, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started Southwest Treasures from a simple desire to spread kindness. It began with hand-painting stones to encourage positivity and kindness in my community. That small project sparked a deeper passion for crystals, minerals, and gemstones, and I wanted to make authentic, ethically sourced pieces accessible to others. Over time, I built relationships with reputable vendors and mine-connected suppliers, and today Southwest Treasures offers a carefully curated collection of crystals, gemstones, and unique jewelry. What began as a small act of kindness has grown into a business that still reflects that same heart – helping people bring more light, intention, and beauty into their lives.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road hasn’t always been smooth – like any small business, there have been challenges along the way. Finding trustworthy suppliers and ensuring the authenticity and ethical sourcing of our crystals took time and research. Learning the ins and outs of running a business, from marketing to inventory management, was another steep learning curve. On a personal level, balancing the demands of being a business owner, volunteer work and community commitments was sometimes tough. But each challenge taught me something valuable and overcoming them has made the journey even more rewarding.

At Southwest Treasures, we hand-select authentic, ethically sourced crystals, gemstones, and minerals that stand out for their quality and beauty. I’m proud to have grown a business that started small and has now turned into a trusted source within the community. A big part of what we do is collaborate with other small businesses – partnering on unique products, co-branded collections, and sometimes special events. We enjoy supporting others and bringing something fresh and meaningful to our customers too.
How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happiest is seeing the joy and excitement customers feel when they find a piece that really speaks to them. I love being part of that moment. I also get a lot of happiness from collaborating with other small businesses – there’s something fulfilling about creating together, supporting each other, and building community. And honestly, watching Southwest Treasures grow from a small idea into something that connects people makes every challenge worth it.
