Hi Chris, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hi, i’m Chris. I’ve grown up chasing around wildlife since I was 4. In recent years, i’ve turned my lifelong passion for reptiles and other wildlife into an presence on social media known as @wildlifegannon. After a viral octopus-in-a-Starbucks-cup video boosted my following into the thousands, I’ve used my platform to educate a wide range of viewers about various wildlife. I often emphasize educating about the maligned and misunderstood ones such as snakes and spiders. I have also done professional work, interning at FaunaForever, a conservation organization in the Peruvian Amazon. Now i’m a biology student trying to become a field biologist. While chasing my degree, I’m continuing to make nature accessible and help people appreciate ALL wildlife. Not just the ones we find cuddly and cute.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not much, except maybe gas money haha. And sometimes, it can be challenging to find whatever species I’m after. But I still have fun regardless. There’s always other wildlife to find if you don’t get to see your target species.
