Today we’d like to introduce you to San Diego Foster Angels Peggy Goldsmith Board Member.
Hi San Diego Foster Angels, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
For almost three decades I have volunteered for San Diego County foster children, and co-founded San Diego Foster Angels in 2018. Peggy supports foster children with mentorship and fundraising throughout the year, with a big emphasis on generous gift-giving.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Applying for our nonprofit status October 2018 and receiving our 503c status in less than 2 months.

100% volunteer operated & 100% of donations will support an at-risk child.
San Diego Foster Angels provides year-round support and resources for at-risk and foster youth across our community. We respond directly to requests from local organizations and programs that need help filling critical gaps in their services—because when we can say yes!
For over 20 years, our Annual Good Cheer Gift Giving Party has been sprinkling holiday magic for hundreds of children who might not otherwise get to celebrate the season. It’s a day filled with toys, treats, laughter, and togetherness—where 35-kids come to feel the joy, love, and excitement of the holidays surrounded by people who care. For many, it’s also a rare chance to reunite with siblings in foster care—making the day even more meaningful and unforgettable. This year’s party will be held at Belmont Park on Sunday, Dec. 21st.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
These are all memories of what we do for the San Diego Foster Angels.
I received a thank you note from 2 girls that attended our first annual holiday party we hosted. They wanted to thank us for hosting party since that the only time they could celebrate the holidays together since they were separated and in two different locations.
Another girl thanked us for allowing her to get an extra gift a fleece blanket so she could get a gift for her elder grandmother she was going to visit at Christmas.
This is why we do what we do cause it all for the kids!
