Today we’d like to introduce you to Cami Glosz.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started my blog, Veggies Then Wine, in August 2017 as a creative outlet to highlight the recipes I was already cooking at home each day. Since then, I’ve been working on improving my iPhone photography skills and coming up with easy and healthy recipes to show on my Instagram and blog. My 9-5 job is working as a Registered Dietitian, so I love to write little blurbs about the healthy nutrients and foods in my meals. My favorite things to make and style are smoothie bowls with all the toppings and fancy egg toasts. I love to show my readers that eating healthy does not have to be too complicated!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Not always a smooth road! Some struggles as a new blogger are trying to find your niche, as food blogging (and blogging in general) is becoming quite over-saturated. I think it’s important to not play the ‘comparison game’ with other bloggers or people you see on Instagram. It is so easy to look at someone else’s engagement or crazy high number of followers and feel discouraged. My advice, which I’ve heard other bloggers use as well, is to stay in your own lane, focus on what you enjoy creating and the rest will fall into place. Focus on supporting other bloggers in your space, rather than feeling jealous or competitive.
We’d love to hear more about Veggies Then Wine.
My blog is about showcasing healthy recipes that anybody can make, along with teaching the reader more about the nutrients and benefits of the foods I use. I love to use a combination of common, everyday ingredients, along with some specialty items, like collagen or adaptogens and informing the reader about the benefits of these foods or ingredients. My blog is set apart from other recipe sites due to my background as a Registered Dietitian, which gives me the ability to translate nutritional science into easy-to-understand points for anyone to relate to!
Finding a mentor and building a network are often cited in studies as a major factor impacting one’s success. Do you have any advice or lessons to share regarding finding a mentor or networking in general?
My favorite way to network is through Instagram! I have found so many wonderful people on Instagram, just through engaging on their photos and vice versa. Most bloggers on Instagram are very receptive to getting direct messages or comments and will answer specific questions you have. Also, going to events that are in your field, like a food expo or a fitness event, can help you to find like-minded people.
