Check out Gabrielle Uribe ‘s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabrielle Uribe.

Gabrielle, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I am a 23-year old female. Art is my expressive outlet and has been for many years. I grew up in Anaheim, Orange County and in Oahu, Hawaii for a few years. Having a desire for colors, flowers and having the ability to create, pushed me towards focusing on my passion. I grew up with a lot of anxiety and depression and found that drawing very intricately gave me the relaxation to help me get through the hard times. My illustrations, drawings and paintings are a reflection of my emotions, anxiety, fears and growth. I find myself at peace when I’m creating something new.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I create intricate, detailed ink work on wood panels, canvas and paper. Using black ink, acrylic and paint markers (depending on the surface or idea). The reason for my small artwork is my meditation for my well-being. I go in with the mindset that whatever comes out is what comes out. I don’t use pencil and I don’t think before I draw. I use a blank canvas, wood panel or paper and let go of my mind and just start drawing. I hope people get a pure feeling when looking at my artwork. It’s not exactly something I expect people to understand because I always started making work for myself and others just gradually started to become attracted to it. Which gave me the confidence to create more.

How can artists connect with other artists?
It can be very lonely. Especially those who are still getting familiar with themselves as humans. I think Instagram is a very big place where others can connect through the images of their artwork. Also, maybe some art areas in their community. Maybe drawing at a cafe, library or going to art walks. I’ve developed great relationships with friends I have met through artwalks, gallery openings, hip hop events and just socializing with others about art.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
I currently have some artwork up in a glass display wall in Downtown Santa Ana at the Fourth Street Market for people to come in and look at. I also have some stickers up for sale at the GCS Shop in Downtown Santa Ana it’s a graffiti, arts and supplies store which has a really cool Hip Hop vibe. I’m currently preparing for a gallery that I will be displaying and selling artwork at the Warehouse of Contemporary Art in Anaheim, CA on March 10th.

I have an Etsy account where I sell most of my prints, painted pots and stickers of my artwork.
