Today we’d like to introduce you to Dustan Vassar.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
In 2009, while I enrolled at Grossmont College, I took my first photography class, which was dark room photography. When I transferred to San Diego State University to pursue a degree in Graphic Design, I took two more photography classes. Once I graduated in 2013, I concentrated more on Graphic Design and drawing. At this point, photography took a back seat to everything else. Around May 2017, I started going to local San Diego photography meet ups hosted by The Portrait Culture, The Gypsy Shack and Picture Partay. This is where I really learned the ins and outs of portrait photography.
Please tell us about your art.
I am a graphic designer, illustrator and photographer. I like creating logos, drawing anything and taking portraits.
What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
I think the biggest challenge is staying persistent with your work long enough to be seen. I spent three years drawing and posting to Facebook and Instagram before I was invited to my first major art show. Success didn’t come over night, I had to continually improved my work.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
You can see my work on Twitter (@dusty_478), Instagram (@dustanvassar) (@dustandraws) and Facebook (Dustan Vassar).
