Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominic Richards.
Hi Dominic, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve had many careers in my life but I discovered early on that I work best independently. My previous career was a real estate agent until I opened up my own brokerage. The 2008 recession brought that to an end. I moved to California in 2011 and started massage school in 2013. I never thought I’d be doing this for so long but it turns out it’s the perfect fit for me and my clients.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I started working for small outfits where I was paid only a portion of the massage. It didn’t take me long to realize that I needed to work on my own and for my own. Once I started working on my own, It has been a pretty smooth road.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in deep tissue and therapeutic stretching. My 1.5 years of full time schooling and 1500 hours of training combined with my 13 years of experience sets me apart from most therapists. Additionally, my large build allows me the leverage and strength to work deep on my clients to work out tight muscles. My clients love the PNF stretching I offer to increase their range of motion in every joint in the human body. I also offer gua sha to increase blood flow and remove stagnation.
What makes you happy?
I’m happiest when I’m able to alleviate pain from a client. Nothing makes me happier than to realize I was able to eliminate chronic pain from a client who has been suffering for months or even years.
