Inspiring Conversations with Taylor Colvey of Taylor Colvey Coaching & Consulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Colvey.

Hi Taylor, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Raised on three acres in North County San Diego alongside an organic lemon grove and my mother’s vegetable garden, I learned early on to trust nature’s brilliance and the body’s innate ability to heal.

As a Professional Clinical Counseling Trainee, I saw how many of my clients lacked the foundations of physical health. This led me to further training in Motivational Interviewing and Trauma-Informed Counseling and later become certified in both Health and Wellness Coaching and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition. Trauma, burnout, and chronic overwhelm can deeply dysregulate the nervous system, gut, and immune function while negatively influencing epigenetics and chronic disease risk. Because of this, I prioritize these key areas in my client work.

Today, I have the privilege to educate future coaches through UCSD Extended Studies, where I teach part-time in Health & Wellness Coaching and co-developed their latest Business for Wellness Professionals curriculum.

Outside of my practice, I stay active with resistance training, yoga, and salsa dancing. After spending 18 years in the San Francisco Bay Area, I now live in the Ocean Beach/Point Loma area with my husband, where we love hiking, traveling, and listening to live music.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For years, I was trapped in the classic autoimmune cycle: people-pleasing, playing small, overextending my capacity, saying “yes” when I meant “no,” and pushing forward on empty. I ignored my own boundaries and health symptoms until my body and mind forced me to stop.

I know how frustrating it is to have “wack-a-mole” symptoms. In my early 30’s, I had a cyst the size of a grapefruit surgically removed from undiagnosed endometriosis since my teenage years, and loads of back pain from a degenerative disc at L5-S1.

When I hit my 40’s, all hell broke loose:

Fatty liver (confirmed on a FibroScan)
Hypothyroid (Serum Blood Lab)
Weight gain
Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis (Serum Blood Lab)
Food sensitivities (Genetic Test, Serum Blood Lab)
Fatigue
Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO/IMO) (Bloating, Food Sensitivities, Anxiety)
Small Intestinal Fungal Overgrowth (SIFO) (Brain Fog)

This was my turning point. I realized that if I wanted real healing, I had to become a generational rebel. I had to stop the cycle of women burning themselves out for everyone else, and refuse to show up to one-sided systems that profit off us staying overwhelmed, exhausted, and chronically sick.

That fierce, rebellious conviction drove me to strip away the noise and focus entirely on a single, all-natural, root-cause solution.

I built a simplified, DNA-based strategy specifically for people who are tired of piecemealing solutions for their chronic gut-brain-autoimmune symptoms.

My mission is to give clients the exact clarity and grounded frameworks they need to catch burnout, reclaim their physical capacity, and reverse their chronic symptoms.

We’ve been impressed with Taylor Colvey Coaching & Consulting, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I help natural health seekers who are tired of the conventional medicine approach. I know how frustrating it is to cycle through bloating, brain fog, anxiety, and autoimmune flares. That’s why I created my signature mountain framework and program to help clients find the energy and peace to live out their purpose. When clients work with me, they go from overwhelmed and frustrated to regulated. So they can finally trust their body again and reach their health summit!

I encourage people interested in getting functional help to take my 2-min What’s Your Gut Root Cause Quiz? and subscribe to my YouTube channel:

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was an artist! Always drawing and dancing, and balanced by an athletic side, a voracious love for reading, and constant curiosity.

Early on, whether I liked my teachers and coaches usually determined my grades, which thankfully shifted in college when I found my own intrinsic motivation to learn. That experience taught me how critical connection is.

I highly encourage everyone to take advantage of complimentary discovery calls or free initial sessions with health providers. Clients usually know immediately if someone is the right fit. We don’t have to suffer through “bad” teachers, coaches, or healthcare providers anymore!
