Today we’d like to introduce you to Mary Elizabeth.
Hi Mary, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been in the aesthetics industry for over 12 years, and my career has evolved significantly alongside my understanding of skin health. I started in traditional aesthetics, but the more experience I gained, the more interested I became in understanding the skin beyond the surface why certain conditions persist, how inflammation and internal health influence the skin, and how we can create meaningful change without constantly compromising the skin.
Over the years, that curiosity shaped my approach into one that is much more holistic and regenerative. Rather than focusing on aggressive treatments or quick fixes, I became passionate about supporting the skin’s own ability to repair and function optimally through advanced delivery systems, regenerative technologies, intentional home care, and a deeper understanding of the connection between skin and overall wellness.
That philosophy eventually led me to create Moonlux Skin & Wellness in 2022. Building my own practice gave me the freedom to create an experience that truly reflected what I believed in highly customized treatments, thoughtful education, long-term client relationships, and an approach to aesthetics that prioritizes skin health over trends.
Since then, Moonlux has grown largely through word of mouth, client referrals, and the relationships I’ve built within the industry. I’ve also had the opportunity to expand into professional education and work as a clinical trainer, which allowed me to educate other providers on advanced treatment technologies and further deepened my own knowledge.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been everything but a smooth road, but I think that’s also what has made building this business so meaningful. Starting Moonlux meant building a clientele from scratch, taking financial risks, and investing more money into my business, education, products, and technology than I sometimes had evidence would ever come back to me. There were definitely moments where I had to trust the vision before I had the numbers to validate it.
One of the biggest lessons has been realizing that entrepreneurship is a constant process of building. In the beginning, it was about getting clients through the door and earning their trust one person at a time. Today, my books are closed to new clients, which is something I’m incredibly proud of, but the building hasn’t stopped it has simply changed. Now I’m focused on growing Moonlux as a brand, expanding my reach and online presence, educating beyond the walls of my treatment room, and continuing to establish what I want my name and business to represent within the industry.
I’ve learned that growth rarely feels linear while you’re in it. Sometimes you’re making decisions based on where you believe your business can go rather than where it currently is.
I think that willingness to keep investing, learning, evolving, and showing up even without guaranteed results has been one of the biggest reasons I’ve gotten to where I am today. And even now, I don’t necessarily feel like I’ve “made it.” I’m proud of what I’ve built, but I still have a much bigger vision for where I want Moonlux to go.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Moonlux Skin & Wellness is a holistic, regenerative skincare practice built around the belief that healthy skin comes from working with the skin rather than constantly fighting against it. I specialize in customized, non-invasive treatments that support the skin barrier, cellular function, hydration, lymphatic health, and long-term regeneration while also looking beyond the surface at factors like inflammation, lifestyle, nutrition, and overall wellness.
I’m probably best known for taking a less aggressive approach to aesthetics. Our industry can be very focused on constantly exfoliating, peeling, heating, or wounding the skin in pursuit of faster results. While there is a time and place for certain modalities, my philosophy is that more trauma doesn’t always equal better skin. I focus heavily on regenerative treatments, advanced ingredient delivery systems, and technologies that allow us to create meaningful change while respecting the integrity of the skin.
Some of my signature treatments incorporate JetPeel technology, transdermal infusions, nano-channeling, lymphatic drainage, dermaplaning, LED light therapy, retinaldehyde infusion, liposomal delivery systems, and exosome based treatments. I’m especially passionate about technologies and delivery systems that allow us to enhance ingredient penetration and cellular communication without relying on unnecessary inflammation or aggressive wounding. Everything is customized to the individual rather than following a one-size-fits-all protocol.
I also place a huge emphasis on home care and education because I want my clients to understand how their skin functions and why we are choosing certain products or treatments not simply be told what to buy. I think what sets Moonlux apart most is the relationship between science, wellness, and personalization. I want someone to leave my treatment room with beautiful skin, of course, but I also want them to have a healthier relationship with their skin. I’m much more interested in creating sustainable change than chasing every new trend or promising an overnight transformation.
Brand wise, I’m most proud of the trust and community that have grown around Moonlux. My books are currently closed to new clients, and the majority of that growth has happened organically through referrals and clients sharing their experiences. Many of my clients have been with me for years, and those relationships are incredibly meaningful to me.
As Moonlux continues to evolve, I want the brand to represent a more thoughtful direction for aesthetics one where results, science, skin health, and whole-body wellness can coexist. My goal is to continue expanding beyond the treatment room through education, online skincare, and a larger platform that helps people become more informed and intentional about how they care for their skin.
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me, first and foremost, is being a mom. As a single mother, my daughter is at the center of so much of what I do and why I’ve worked so hard to build a life and career on my own terms. I want her to grow up seeing what it looks like to be independent, take risks, work hard for something you believe in, and stay true to yourself even when your path looks different from everyone else’s.
My clients are also at the heart of everything I’ve built. So many of them have been with me for years and have genuinely become like family. They’ve trusted me not only with their skin, but through different seasons of their lives. Creating a space where people feel cared for, heard, educated, and comfortable being themselves means just as much to me as the results we achieve together.
Professionally, it matters deeply to me that I’ve been able to introduce a philosophy around skin health that challenges some of the more traditional approaches to aesthetics and see it embraced by my community. I’ve always believed we can create beautiful, transformative results without constantly compromising the skin in the process. Seeing clients become more educated, question trends, understand their skin differently, and embrace a more regenerative and holistic approach has been incredibly rewarding.
Ultimately, I want Moonlux to stand for something beyond aesthetics. I want it to represent connection, education, longevity, and the confidence to do things differently when you believe there is a better way.
