Today we’d like to introduce you to Jared Harman.
Hi Jared, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m born and raised in San Diego, and went to Hilltop Elementary through High School. Graduated top of my class in 2018 and went on to study chemical engineering at UC Davis. After my first year I learned enough about that career path to know it wasn’t what I wanted in life. I dropped out, moved home, and got in touch with every tennis shop in San Diego since I knew how to string rackets. Eventually I got connected with the Balboa Tennis Club in North Park, stringing rackets for a year, then coaching my own roster of clients. It was great to be out on the court all day, but I learned two things: 1. There is very little upward growth potential 2. I loved the job more for the people than the tennis
After a few years I had a student encourage me to get my real estate license and see where it takes me. Sure enough I followed through, and got connected with my first mentor, also through the tennis club.
It took me a while to find my bearings in the industry, learning and trying all kinds of things from door knocking to cold calls and open houses. I decided pretty early on that I didn’t want to build a business where I was constantly chasing people, so I doubled down on social media. Now business comes to me, I attract the exact type of people I enjoy working with.
Today I’m the guy who gets buyers and sellers the best possible deals around the metro SD area. I attend broker caravans religiously to get first access to properties and generate an interest list for my clients, on top of making sure I’m personally at the cutting edge of the market. I’ve been twice nominated as Metro Agent of the Year, and have closed $14m+ in just the last 6 months. I love selling cool homes for cool people.
My girlfriend Palia has played a pivotal role in supporting me over the years, and I owe her everything. I love my family and always look forward to seeing Palia, our husky/lab Kikyo, and our overweight orange cat Booda.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My first two years in the industry were extremely difficult. I had cracked the code on social media, got thousands of new followers and hundreds of leads, but never made any sales. I had to rely on coaching tennis to keep bills paid while trying so hard to make real estate work. This is not an easy industry to get established in, especially as a young person. Oddly enough, everything started to fall into place when I stopped using the traditional sales language that was drilled into me my first two years.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am one of the top agents in the San Diego Metro area, and I love selling cool homes for cool people. Clients love working with me because I don’t sell them on anything. There is never any pressure or steering towards a decision. I do the research, present the information, and lay out the options. I am my clients biggest advocate, and will stop at nothing to ensure they are getting the best representation possible. For buyers that’s becoming part of my Cool Homes Club, where they get first access to the best properties, and a roster of other perks that sale them $3,000+ out of pocket. For sellers, they get to take advantage of my online presence of 22k+ people across platforms, reaching over 900k people in the last month alone. I can get a property more exposure than anyone else in town, and as such – get my clients the most money possible.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Being a human. I want to be friends with my clients, and I don’t want clients I wouldn’t be friends with. I’m approachable, love cracking jokes during showings, and all while being ahead of everyone else in town when it comes to market knowledge.
