Life & Work with Lindsey Rummings of San Diego

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Rummings.

Hi Lindsey, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
At my core, I’m passionate about breaking the mold of what a professional “should” look like. You don’t have to choose just one path—you can care for patients as a PT, step in front of the lens as a model, and show up fully as a partner, daughter, and friend without diluting any part of who you are.

On the clinical side, I’ve been practicing as a home health physical therapist for four and a half years after earning my DPT in 2021. Working with patients directly in their homes has given me a deep appreciation for personalized care, human connection, and helping people regain their independence.

Parallel to my medical career, my modeling journey started back in 2015. I began completely casually, taking on amateur shoots and learning the ropes step-by-step. Over the years, connecting with the right creative network and refining my style transformed a fun outlet into professional commercial, runway, and lifestyle modeling.

Naturally, that space expanded into digital content creation. Stepping into my 30s, I love how both worlds complement each other—allowing me to bridge evidence-based healthcare with fashion, aesthetics, and lifestyle media. One of the most meaningful highlights of bringing these two passions together was producing and directing an inclusive fashion show. We brought together designers and incredible models with diverse abilities—including individuals with cerebral palsy, autism, and single- and double-leg amputations—to celebrate adaptive fashion and highlight their beauty on the runway.

Navigating both fields keeps me grounded, creative, and constantly evolving.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth, linear road—balancing two completely different industries comes with its own learning curve. Early on, the biggest challenge was overcoming the stereotype of what a healthcare professional “should” look like or do outside of the clinic. Imposter syndrome is real when you’re trying to establish yourself in health care while simultaneously building a creative career in front of the camera.

I’ve always naturally had strong time management skills, but operating in both spaces tested and refined those systems in a real way. Managing the sheer logistics of a demanding home health schedule alongside castings, shoot days, editing, and content deadlines meant every hour had to be intentional. Time management became less about just filling a calendar and more about mastering efficiency, setting firm boundaries, and knowing how to shift gears seamlessly between clinical patient care and creative direction. Learning to navigate those high-demand schedules while owning both sides of my career—without needing approval from traditional boxes—was a major turning point for me.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
On any given day, my work spans two dynamic and vastly different worlds that uniquely complement each other. On the clinical side, I’m a Doctor of Physical Therapy specializing in home health care. Working with patients directly in their personal living spaces allows me to evaluate their real-world environment, helping them recover from severe injuries, overcome mobility limitations, and rebuild their physical independence safely and comfortably. On the creative side, I’ve been modeling since 2015, moving across commercial campaigns, editorial projects, and runway shows. Over the years, that creative outlet naturally evolved into digital content creation, where I produce media focused on fashion, beauty, movement, and wellness.

I’m known for seamlessly bridging the gap between evidence-based health science and a modern aesthetic lifestyle. Society often pressures professionals to stay strictly within a single lane, but I’ve built my brand on challenging that expectation. I take pride in showing that you can be deeply grounded in clinical medicine while still bringing high-energy art and creativity to life in front of the lens. My background as a physical therapist gives me a unique appreciation for human movement, posture, and resilience, allowing me to approach lifestyle, style, and wellness content through an authentic, elevated, and multi-dimensional lens rather than a generic or surface-level template.

My proudest achievement is creating Boundless—an inclusive fashion show I brought to life to redefine traditional standards of beauty on the runway by providing a high-fashion platform for individuals of all different physical abilities. Bringing *Boundless* from concept to reality allowed me to synthesize my deep passion for physical rehabilitation with my experience in the fashion industry, creating an empowering space where participants could step into the spotlight and feel truly celebrated. Entering my 30s having built a career where I can produce impactful community events, deliver dedicated clinical care to my home health patients, and still show up fully as a model, partner, daughter, and friend without shrinking any piece of my identity is my absolute greatest reward. It proves that when you refuse to fit into a single box, you open doors for others to step boldly into their own light.

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is human connection, empathy, and giving people—including myself—the permission to live without limits.

Through my work as a home health physical therapist, I enter people’s personal spaces during some of their most vulnerable moments. I see firsthand how deeply our physical well-being, confidence, and sense of self are intertwined. It has taught me that true care goes far beyond clinical technique; it requires meeting people exactly where they are with compassion, listening closely, and helping them reclaim their strength, independence, and dignity.

That same heart for empathy is what inspired me to create *Boundless*. I wanted to build a platform that directly challenges rigid standards of beauty and capability by celebrating individuals of all abilities on the runway. Seeing participants step into the spotlight and feel truly seen, valued, and empowered reinforced what I care about most: creating spaces where everyone feels like they belong and where their unique story is honored.

Equal to my passion for my work is the deep devotion I have for my inner circle. My relationships with my partner, my family, and my lifelong friends are the true anchor of my life. Having a boyfriend who supports and shares in my multi-dimensional drive, being there for my family through every season, and nurturing friendships that have stood the test of time give my life its deepest purpose and joy. They ground me when things get busy and remind me of what truly endures.

At this stage in my life, I’ve realized that honoring others starts with honoring every layer of who you are. I refuse to shrink any part of my identity to fit a single label. Whether I’m delivering hands-on care to a patient, bringing a creative vision to life in front of the camera, pouring energy into *Boundless*, or showing up fully for the people I love most, it all comes back to the same core principle: showing up with heart, lifting people up, and building a life anchored in genuine love and connection.
