Conversations with the Inspiring Kelly Formaldehyde

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Formaldehyde.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kelly. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started my business after getting my divorce. I love making creations to wear. After my son had cancer three times, I started using it as a source to make ends meet.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Business is a like a roller coaster full of ups and downs. I love helping other women-owned business owners. If you have an idea do it. Being in business for yourself is hard but seriously it’s either feast or famine.

what should we know about MsFormaldehyde? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I specialize in cat jewelry, horn headdresses, tiki flowers and Carmen Miranda fruit turbans. I do Tiki Oasis every year in San Diego.

I vend at CatCon in LA and Monsterpalooza in LA. I also have my own mini-storefront at SoCal Handmade at the Mission Valley Mall.

I am very unique and tenacious. My creations are one of a kind just like me.

Do you have any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general? What has worked well for you?
Networking with other artist’s. Surround yourself with a group of artist’s who inspire you. I am very lucky to be inspired by great friends who are so talented. Surrounded by what I love, art!
