Meet Bryce Giuliani of Bryce Giuliani Music/RBG Vineyards in Granite Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryce Giuliani.

Bryce, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was drawn to the drums and music at an early age. It was recommended, by close family friends, to be put in drum lessons from day one. Never could I be more in agreement with them, about drum lessons, as I look back at my playing accomplishments, achievements, albums, and endorsements. I was taught by a Strict Female drum instructor, that taught me all the extremely important details…. posture, grip, technique, body balance, kit placement, and reading and writing drum charts. It was very challenging, and she did not let me slide easy or slide by on talent. It paid off quickly, and I was in my first band Shadow Play by the 8th grade. We actually played both Montgomery Middle Schools lunch periods, and later down the road granite Hills high school as well. From that 8th grade show… I never looked back and have been following my dreams and living my passion by drumming and playing other instruments I love.

I really took my passion and fire for drumming and music to the next level when I decided to attend M.I. (Musicians Institute). The 3 years I spent there were priceless to me, and some of the best years of my life. Music and drumming 24/7 all week long. If you were a musician, this was the place to be. I learned real quick that I was not the best Hard Rock/Rock drummer anymore… I was now in a class with 30 of the best, from all over the world. The competition was fierce, and by the end, that 30 drummers shrunk to maybe 7 of us that made it, all the way through and graduated. I came out of there, blazing… and my playing had never been so complete, well rounded, and diverse. It propelled me and my passion to the next level. At any given time, I am usually playing for 3-5 different bands on 2 different instruments. All ranging from Rock/Instrumental shred/funk/ Country/metal.

I am endorsed by soultone cymbals, and cymbolt.

I product test and do DW drum reviews and video work.

I drummed on the When The Worlds Collide Tour 2014, headlined by (D.R.I) Dirty Rotten Imbeciles

I recorded my first full-length album, Trainwrecked, that was released in 2016. I have already laid the drum tracks for an upcoming release, due out soon with a mainstream rock band.

I also just had an album released, that I play bass on April 6th. The Band is FINDING T.H.E.T.I.S. and the albums name is METAVASI. It means changing or morphing. I have recently expanded my playing talents and abilities to include the bass guitar. It is so closely linked to drums, and a very percussive instrument, so it just comes naturally to me. I really lock and synch with the drums. it gives me a refreshing and unique approach to laying down the low end.

The second part of my story is part family, part heritage, part tradition, and a lot Italian. In 2011, RBG Vineyards was launched. The R is for Rusti and the B is for Brian and the G for Giuliani… my two wonderful parents that I adore and work with on our family vineyard. We are Italian, so it’s all about family and wine is just a part of life. Never did I know it was so much work to make. Hahaha! We have a great business relationship with San Pasqual Winery, who represents our wine and has certain ones and blends using our grapes available at their tasting room. Linda McWilliams has been a big help in guiding us, being our Venture, and getting us headed in the right direction. We sell our grapes, trade some, and keep some. Passion, romance, and wine… does it get any better.

Has it been a smooth road?
music wise it is a competitive field. If you aren’t confident or can deal with intense competition and want to be a pro drummer… it’s probably time for ukulele lessons.

Winemaking takes time… and most people don’t have the time or the patience. Not many know that the first five years you grow grapes… scratch um. No wine, no profit, no nada… the vines are too young and need to mature. So the cost of getting up and going… then, scratching the first 5 years is a tough one to swallow.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
My music career, I believe my diversity sets me apart. Being able to handle and play multiple styles is a big plus. Also playing multiple instruments, in multiple bands lets me see, hear, and feel things differently. When I give private lessons I am able to interact and use my ability on other instruments to really interact with the student and what they learning.

On our grapes… we went with high end, rare, not the norm. We have Grenache, Tempranillo, Petit Verdot, and Chardonnay. We are very young as a vineyard, yet our wine tastes really good for being so young. It makes a good case for a strong future with these strains of vines.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I feel the east county of San Diego is a great place for a business like a winery. It takes land and serious patience… but after Napa Valley and it’s proven great wines, along with Temecula now, who’s to say East County San Diego isn’t the next big California wine standout area. California is an expensive period, as we all know. It’s why a good bottle from Napa or Central Valley costs around $30 give or take. You can get good imports for less than half of that, but it’s all about the wine, in the end, so if it’s good and done right, people will buy it.

Everybody loves wine, it’s not just some fad going out anytime soon, its part of life for many.
