Today we’d like to introduce you to Caryn Kirchhoff-Herrera.
Caryn, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started my own business after the spa I was working at changed ownership. I took the leap to go out on my own and it was the best decision I have ever made. I opened my own skin care studio, and for a very long time, it was just me. Full of long days and 7 day works weeks. I eventually expanded and brought in room renters. I am now just finishing launching my second business with my partner Julie Black, which is a CBD spa.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Owning a business is not for the faint of heart. It is full of ups and downs, but if it’s your passion, it’s totally worth it. I have built my business on my own, with little or no help financially. So, that was rough but I made it happen because it’s what I wanted. The best advice I can give would be to never give up. Go with the flow and not to let stress take over. You will never work as hard as you do when you have your own business. Remember to have fun, this is what you wanted!
Please tell us about The green tea spa.
At The Green Tea Spa, we specialize in hemp-based CBD spa treatments. CBD stands for cannabidiol. Which is a compound found in the hemp and cannabis plants? There are so many benefits from utilizing this compound. One thing most people don’t know own is this compound causes no psychoactive effect like THC does. It does, however, induce the relaxation of your muscles and works wonders for inflammation. The list goes on! In my mind, CBD is the answer to most things!
Do you think there are structural or other barriers impeding the emergence of more female leaders?
Personally, I don’t think there are any barriers. I feel like we are our own barrier. We as females can do anything that we want to! I just think that can be forgotten from time to time. In the spa industry, there are many female business owners, the same goes for the cannabis industry.
