Check out Rosaria Cefalo’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rosaria Cefalo.

Rosaria, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I was born in a small village on the sea in Italy. I started to love drawing as a child and so my parents decided to send me an art school. After graduating, I went to Florence to attend a summer course in art and restoration but I really loved the comic’s world and graphic design so I moved to Rome to study and specialize as cartoonist and illustrator at the International School of Comics. After this I had the opportunity to work for some small publishers and create illustrations for children’s books. I continued to work as a freelance illustrator and I have done many different jobs like decorations, wall painting, comics, but recently I prefer to create and sell handmade products like postcards, bookmarks, shoppers, prints and sometimes originals. Recently, I started studying and practicing painting and trying to evolve my style and, in the future, I would like to open a small shop online with my products.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I like to draw, paint in the traditional way, start by drawing a little sketch on my notebook, that I always carry with me, Subjects are nature, landscapes, places where I go, imaginary places or just my sea, the landscape that I see from my window. Sometimes I do portraits or characters of tv series that I like.
Through my work I would like to tell my dreams, my emotions or just share an atmosphere. My favorite technique is watercolor, but I also use crayons, gouache, pencils and acrylic colors on different paper.

Have things improved for artists? What should cities do to empower artists?
Being an artist today is not easy, there are ups and downs and it also depends on where you live, but life is also improved with social media, it is easier to promote your art all over the world, if you want.
Cities like yours can organize festivals and contests where to be known, and where to meet to share opinions and ideas.
it’s nice to meet new people, new perspectives and helps to grow and evolve.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
You can see my works taking a look at my Facebook or Instagram page.Social media is very important right now and people can support me by sharing my pages or with a like. So they can see updates and stay tuned for news.
