Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Palacpac.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
About 5 years ago, I was a lost high school graduate; discouraged and confused about where my life was going I decided to give makeup artistry a shot. I wasn’t one who was in love with makeup and I didn’t even know the possibilities and opportunities it offered career-wise. I honestly thought to pursue it because of some test that suggested I do it that I took in school and thought “hey why the heck not”. Once I searched and found the school, I wanted to attend I found that I actually love doing makeup, not only for the art but because of how it transforms people, not only physically but mentally. I love giving people confidence and power, not that everyone needs to wear makeup but if it helps you break out of your shell why not? I am still not where I want to be but I am at a better place and hope to establish myself as a makeup artist people can know and trust.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road I have been on as not been smooth. Mostly lonely and bumpy, haha, but if you are determined and have a goal and a plan nothing can stop you. Working for yourself isn’t easy, you have to make sure to always push yourself and go out and find your clients. This can be especially hard if your introverted but not impossible, set deadlines and stay organized or things can feel hopeless and overwhelming. A piece of advice I would give to a younger woman would be to always be willing to help one another and make alliances with other professionals in your industry. Lift each other up never tear others down, give and you shall receive.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with S.P. Artistry – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Working as a makeup artists, I believe people know me for delivering what my client(s) ask for; I try and transform my style to better suit them and they want I really strive to execute their vision for themselves. I am most proud of my customer service, I really want my clients to know how important they are and that I actually care about them and hope to make lasting relationships. One thing that sets me apart from others is my ability to cater and execute what is asked of me whether it be beauty, body painting, or special fx,
Often it feels as if the media, by and large, is only focused on the obstacles faced by women, but we feel it’s important to also look for the opportunities. In your view, are there opportunities that you see that women are particularly well positioned for?
I think woman have a huge opportunity in shaping the opinion and outlook of the youth. Being a mother or an aunt, you might not notice but you have younger family members watching you. It’s so important to take our role (wherever we are) seriously and strive to be respected and acknowledged for our minds and abilities.
