Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Ogden.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I learned that I had a passion for photography in my sophomore year in high school. I loved everything from shooting people to nature. At that time, my teacher made it clear that it was practically impossible to make a living from photography. Fast forward about 13 years later and here I am – married to a man with the same passion as mine. He’s helped me get my vision back that you can make a career out of any passion you may have. I’m lucky enough to be able to work alongside him as well as create my own path, with my own style.
Please tell us about your art.
I always try to capture the beauty of the natural world – uninterrupted. I found my niche in wedding and engagement photography when I worked as a second shooter with my husband at a wedding several years ago. I immediately fell in love with shooting true, raw emotion and ending with a beautiful result. I try to ensure that the viewer can see the emotion of the people that I am shooting.
We often hear from artists that being an artist can be lonely. Any advice for those looking to connect with other artists?
Network, network, network! Don’t be afraid of asking for help, whether you like someone’s technique or need a second photographer for an event. Or just reach out to others in your area letting them know that you’d be open to some sort of partnership! I’ve worked on a referral method for days that clients want to work with me and I’m already booked and vice versa.
How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
My most up to date work can be seen on my Instagram. People can support my work with choosing me to be their wedding, engagement, family or any event photographer.
