Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Lozano.
Vanessa, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I first picked up a camera when I was 17 years old my elective class for high school was photography we did everything from taking the photos, processing the Film and processing our own photos on to prints it was my happy place I loved it so much I spent as much time as I could there.
After High School, I picked up my first digital camera and it was literally with me everywhere I went. At 19 I had my first “client” a good friend of mine had asked me if I could take her photos as she loved my work. It was such a rush and an amazing feeling seeing her face of how happy she was with how the photos had turned out.
Little by little people started asking me how much do you charge for family, maternity, styled portraits that it slowly became, my side business. Funny thing is I loved what I was doing but I almost didn’t want to see it as a business just something that I liked doing and that I’d do for family, friends and friends of my friends. There was one point where I had so much going on in my personal life that it faded and was really not in a good place that I completely forgot about it and put my cameras away.
Fast forward to about 2 years ago I became a mom of a beautiful boy named Sebastian it was then when I found myself hovering over him with my camera all the time and found the love I had for photography. It was then that my husband said to me “get back in the game, if this is something you love to do then get back to it” And I did, I started fresh and brand spanking new and shiny lol that’s how I felt. It’s been so great and I love it more than ever before.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I’m a Photographer that loves to do it all from engagements, weddings/ elopements to maternity. family, lifestyle portraits. I can even stick to one thing because I love it all.
I have so much to share with you all, Capturing raw emotions as they happen is what I’m all about. I want to photograph the deep belly laughs, quirky smirks, the in-betweens, and the look in your eyes that, in that split second, was everlasting.
I want to be able to provide my clients with something that they can look back on & cherish forever!
What do you know now that you wished you had learned earlier?
My advice to other artists is just to keep pushing to be the best you can be, there are so many Photographers out there but there is only one of you! So stand out in your own unique way things don’t come easy I know that as I am still trying to build up my business but I know that I love what I do and I will continue to push to where I want to be and where I want my business to go.
