Check out César Córdova’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to César Córdova.

César, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
My mother runs a flower shop and my father was an architect who enjoyed sculpture. My childhood was surrounded with colors and visits to museums. I started drawing and painting like any other child, very early, but discovered in painting an extraordinary place where exciting things were always happening. As a child I enjoyed spending long afternoons drawing and imagining. When I grew up, to continue painting was just natural. And though it has become more difficult to find the same amazement I felt when I first started drawing I try to keep looking for new and exciting places in working everyday as an artist.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I make paintings. Art History has been a long-time passion of mine, I love the works of the great masters. In my work I try to communicate with the works of the past, showing old ideas in new light. I try to approach Art History through humor, to break with the solemnity that surrounds masterworks, and discover what those works have to say about our present.

The sterotype of a starving artist scares away many potentially talented artists from pursuing art – any advice or thoughts about how to deal with the financial concerns an aspiring artist might be concerned about?
Focus on the quality of your work. Work of great quality will always be appreciated. And having incomes from different art related sources will help you feel economically stable. Teaching or making freelance illustrations can help develop your art without the pressure of the art market.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
My site www.cesarcordova.com has links to all my social media pages, through them people can find out about future shows or buy original artwork.
