Today we’d like to introduce you to Camila Gill.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Camila. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
In 2002, I was working as an Airline and I started buying rental properties for investments because I didn’t like the stock market and I enjoyed architecture and well-built construction. I rented the properties long-term and enjoyed the process of improving properties and helping corporate renters transition from renting to buying with my real estate license. This was always a side job to keep me busy after work! In 2018, This resulted in the current Hillcrest Hidden Gem Vacation Rental. It is nestled in Hillcrest where there are no hotels nearby and walkable to Balboa Park many North Park and Hillcrest eclectic stores and restaurants!
Has it been a smooth road?
In 2012, vacation rentals were a brand new idea for me. I was unsure of the process and if it was something that would work for me. It was an investment to furnish the unit with furniture and a complete kitchen so I had to go all in or not! I decided to try it with a small unit in a great location. Slowly over a couple of years, I got the hang of it and learned what vacation travelers wanted in a vacation rental and traded in and out furniture until I got it just right and the 5 stars started pouring in.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the San Diego Airbnb story. Tell us more about the business.
I specialize in affordable vacation rentals in Hillcrest, San Diego that are fun, clean, well decorated, in a great location and will accept your pet so you can travel together!
What were you like growing up?
I grew up in Kansas in a small town. I was an athlete and I loved softball, swimming, soccer and mostly tennis. I still play tennis today in the senior division! I still go back to Kansas City to visit relatives.
