Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Lassalette.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Amy. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’m a certified personal trainer, pre & post natal fitness and yoga instructor, a lifelong athlete and a busy mom to Madison (8 years old) and Tyler (4 years old). Fitness and health are an important part of my everyday life. I started Fit Miss Training with a vision to spread my passion for health & fitness to other women and to set an example for my kids. As a mom, wife and business owner, I understand the demands placed on women and especially moms. My goal is to help them feel like their best selves and to help them reach their personal goals.
I began my fitness career after the birth of my daughter Madison in 2009. I left my hospitality career and began teaching mom and baby fitness classes through Stroller Strides® Chula Vista. In doing so, I realized I could combine my enthusiasm for sales and marketing with my love for health and fitness and purchased my first franchise in 2012 running Stroller Strides® and Body Back® classes in the Chula Vista and La Mesa area.
In addition to being an athlete, the role of health in my life stemmed from having a large family with a history of heart disease and diabetes. I knew I wanted to help people make a change in their life. I feel a responsibility to teach my children to have a good relationship with their bodies and food and to help them to be their best self. I want to be an example of someone who they can look up to by showing them, not just telling them.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There were definitely struggles & self-doubt along the way. Trying to manage running a business, teaching all of my classes, running a household and being a mom & wife all with young kids is no easy task. But, I think anything worth doing, is worth the struggle. I’m a better person (and time manager) because of it. My best advice to anyone starting out would be to never give up. It’s not going to be perfect all the time, you just have to keep going.
