Conversations with the Inspiring Lauren Erro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Erro.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have always loved beauty, which is funny because my mother never wore makeup or used any products. So, everything I know is self-taught. In college, I struggled with horrible acne, which is where I learned about ingredients and targeted treatments. When I finally had my acne under control, I found that I was infinitely more self-confident and since then it has been a passion of mine to help others with their skin issues.

After college, I worked in many different industries- Event Management at the House of Blues, Business Development for Darren Sproles’ Foundation, Sales for Mercedes Benz but I always felt like I was missing out on my true passion. I began to work part-time at a day spa and part-time at a Medical Spa. It was so fulfilling to see women leave their appointments feeling beautiful and optimistic about their skin. Beauty is empowering and I decided it was time to start my blog and help women on their quest to achieve their skin goals. My blog’s mission is all about simplifying skincare and the beauty process.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My advice to others who are starting on their journey is to try as many industries as you want. Don’t feel like you need to work that corporate 9-5 until retirement if it doesn’t feel right. Take chances, meet people, grow your network and spend your time doing something you enjoy. Opportunities don’t fall into your lap- you have to search them out. Though I always liked the jobs I had, it just felt like there was something else out there I HAD to do. I am a firm believer in trusting your instinct. If you are feeling drawn to something, there is a reason. Explore it and try something new! A lot of what I’ve accomplished is me trying and putting myself out there- the biggest struggle for me is being ok with things not being “perfect” before I launch them. I’ve learned that it is ok, and having something is better than nothing.

What should we know about Lauren Erro? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I’m a beauty blogger and my goal is to simplify the mind-boggling world of beauty. I’d like to think that I am approachable and candid with my followers. My blog is very authentic and you can always count on an honest review from me.

What do you feel are the biggest barriers today to female leadership, in your industry or generally?
I’ve never felt there are barriers to female leadership in any of the jobs I’ve had. Majority of the businesses I’ve worked for were owned or managed by women. I don’t think gender defines your career path.
