Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon Tidwell.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Shannon. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have always loved makeup, even if back when I started it didn’t always turn out well. 🙈 So as I got older, I watched a lot of YouTube tutorials and started enhancing my makeup skills. After getting married and settling down with my husband, I decided to pursue my dreams of becoming a makeup artist. Before I continue I would like to explain how huge my husband’s support has been. In everything I do, he always pushes me to go further and push my limits.
So, back in January of 2018 I signed up and started my certificate program with Makeup Artist Studio Inc. The biggest thing that got me here today is challenging myself and PRACTICE. When it comes to makeup practice is everything. I’ve spent many hours of my life practicing, messing up, washing my face and repeating that a few times in a row before I got it. Patience, consistency, and practice.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I would say the thing I struggle with the most is sticking to the same type of look. I love branching out and trying new things but it’s almost like I get “makeup block” sometimes and can’t find inspiration in any colors or looks. When it gets to that point I just step back from the mirror for a little and clear my mind with positive thoughts and then return to the mirror with a calm clear mind.
I don’t think success should come easy, if it does you aren’t challenging yourself enough and you have more potential.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Queens Corner Beauty – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I guess I’m almost a jack of all trades because I really do have a passion for many different things in my life. I am a business owner and I own a Skincare and Beauty Business in San Clemente. I run that business alongside my makeup business. They both fall under Queens Corner Beauty because everything I do is beauty related in some way.
I am also a singer and I’ve been working on improving my musician skills on the side. That’s another venture I’m working on but for now, I am working really hard at my Skincare, beauty, and makeup businesses.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
For starters, I believe Social Media has such an incredible way of expanding opportunities for many people and I find it amazing. I love Instagram and I am probably on it a bit too much sometimes. I also like Facebook and just started using twitter. Snapchat is pretty cool but I used to use it more than I do now. As far as books go, I love The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom and The Secret by Rhonda Bryne.
