Meet Dustin Remy of FantasyJocks.com in Poway

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dustin Remy.

Dustin, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Back in my early college years, myself and 11 other friends from Ramona formed a Fantasy Football League called “The Real American Heroes”. It was something we were all super passionate about and really kept us all in touch as life inevitably pulled us in different directions.

Without a doubt the highlight of each season was getting together for our live draft party that was typically right around Labor Day weekend. Every year we would purchase a draft board and player labels online to organize everyone’s draft picks and then get our crusty old, beat up league trophy updated with a new engraved championship plaque.

In an attempt to save our league some money I decided to make one. Seeing how into Fantasy Football our league was made me realize that this could actually be a business opportunity!

I built a website, bought a broken down Large Format printer off eBay, fixed it up, and started selling draft boards off my apartment floor!

After a few months, things started to take off and eventually had to move to a friends garage, to a 1000 sq ft warehouse, to a 3,000 sq ft and eventually to our new 6,000 sq ft location in Poway (all over the span of a 3 year period!).

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
We’ve definitely hit our share of speed bumps but what startup business hasn’t? Prior to launch, I had built a few websites but knew absolutely nothing about E-commerce, Paid Traffic, Manufacturing, Managing Employees, etc.

At the end of the day, as an entrepreneur you just have to figure things out. There is literally nothing you can’t learn how to do with an internet connection and a few hours of your time.

I think what stops the majority of people from ever starting a business is the assumption you need to lay out a perfect roadmap to success before you can even begin. Expect to makes some pivots along they way. “Everyone throws out their first pancake”. Moral of the story, start making pancakes

So, as you know, we’re impressed with FantasyJocks.com – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We design, manufacture and sell trophies & live draft boards for Fantasy Football, Baseball & Basketball leagues. Rather than offering traditional, boring plastic trophies you would most likely find at your local trophy shop – we’ve developed some entertaining and unique products that can help maximize the fun, trash talking element to the game of fantasy sports.

Our Fantasy Football Championship Belt has been the product our customers seem to be most passionate about. Since out demographic is primarily males aged 18-40, the Championship Belt often takes them back to the days of watching Hulk Hogan or Macho Man duke it out for a title.

It may sound cliche but I believe what sets us apart from our competition is our incredible customer service. We are fortunate to work in an industry we are excited about and really take pride in seeing how many other fantasy leagues we have impacted over the years.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
One of the more common requests we receive is from customers asking us to design trophies for their children’s youth sports teams. We are planning to diversify into different sports later this year and would ideally like to figure out additional ways to spread out sales volume into our slower months.
