Today we’d like to introduce you to Takierah Craigen.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I am a 24-year-old mother of 2 from the north suburbs of Chicago. I moved here to California, with no other family members to pursue a career in modeling. Something I had only dreamed of for a long time, now it’s finally becoming a reality for me.
Please tell us about your art.
I am a freelance model who looks to create visual art that represents me and inspires others. My art/modeling is how I express myself and also how I learn to love myself the more I create. Being freelance I get to bring my own visions alive and even mash them with other creatives which is very motivating for me. I want to be another success story, another “wow if she can do I can do it.” I want to be inspiration for mothers who may have lost confidence and need to find it. I want to be inspiration to women who have insecurities but still push through to and own those insecurities.
Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
If doing what you love makes you feel good, then you’re going in the right direction. When you feel numbed about missing an opportunity just remind yourself that bigger ones will come as long as you keep working hard. I continue to learn to perfect my craft every day, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
