Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Geason, Rob The Photographer.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I was born in Long Beach, California and raised in various cities of Southern California. At an early age, I took an interest in dancing, photography, and videography. I started out taking cellphone pictures and made me realize that photography was something I wanted to explore a little more. My father has a production company and I would often help him out while learning some things along the way. Over the years, I gained a stronger interest in photography and took a class during my senior year of high school. I was really hyped about photography at that time but ended up getting lost trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. I attended college and put photography on the back burner. I ended up working in the auto industry for a few years and didn’t like it as much as I thought I would’ve. In 2015, I bought an old camera and then started moving up from there. Now I’m known as ROB THE PHOTOGRAPHER.
Please tell us about your art.
When I pick up my camera, I usually intend on taking a picture that’ll have a meaning behind it. My portraits are filled with a sense of emotion based on the setting whether it’s at the beach, in the city, or in a studio. I use composition and lighting to my advantage which helps with the mood I’m trying to get across to whoever sees my work. When I create, I feel a sense of satisfaction and reward because I tend to have so many ideas in my head and it feels great to get them out. I feel like I create art for everyone to enjoy. Everyone is capable of making great art and inspiring others. I hope people will get the courage to do whatever they do to reveal who they are whether it’s through dance, painting, drawing, or singing. My art is authentic and everything is done with purpose.
As an artist, how do you define success and what quality or characteristic do you feel is essential to success as an artist?
I think of success as goal setting and achieving those goals. Whether it’s small goals or big goals, as long as you’re making progress then you’re being successful. Success also related closely with happiness. I believe that if you’re creating and not stressing then you’re winning. The “never enough” attitude is essential to success because artists have to push forward and not stay stagnant. As an artist, you have to constantly think of what you can do next and creating. That “never enough” attitude will have you inspired to make bigger goals and do better in life. Your best work hasn’t been created yet.
