Today we’d like to introduce you to Sejzinn.
Sejzinn, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
Ever since my childhood I was unable to suppress my strong artistic inclinations. These inclinations consumed me and have continued to do so.
Now as a young woman with Indian heritage and strong awareness of the cultural conditioning, I am endeavoring to flourish within a realm that I am deeply driven by.
To quickly walk you through what I mean by conditioning, India is still developing, despite the incredible culture and the diversity that it has that inspires, the society still lacks the knowledge of arts, infrastructure for it and generally nudes are considered pornographic and art isn’t something that pays the bills. Moving out of the family, living by yourself, living on your terms before marriage is still frowned upon for a woman.
Being eighteen and making a decision to peruse arts and dropping out of my bachelors in commerce which was a big deal for my family and rest around me was the most courageous decision ever, very emotionally tough since now you are walking away from the direction where the crowd is going, that includes cousins, friends and those highly intelligent students in your class or as I like to call it kids who study mindlessly
Anyhow, it didn’t just challenge me but also then gave me a space to build my own ideologies, dive into things I never would have otherwise. To lead a life that leaves a trace of strong longing purpose, and devotion for my passion.
I love to be creative and express through many mediums that are available at that very moment of where inspiration hits you, but overall I am very inclined towards classical painting.
My earlier digital works portrayed loud emotions and a bit of eccentricity while the oil paintings are mild and portray the subtle side of myself.
Classical femininity captivates me for somehow women then produced an essence of various emotions that expressed not only the grace and beauty but also something deep and natural, something which was not altered with an intention to manipulate.
I am very fascinated, very curious and the history always delights me every time I ponder over it.
I am very prolific painter yet at the same time I try hard to not push the flow. Mind is a constant critique and goes on and on but feeling is something else as far I believe.
Despite all the critical faculty put on us during out lifetime where you want to do something but a voice tells you: It’s not you! And you go what the hell, I want to be ME, nothing is real because it’s how we all individually look at life, but more than that it’s about keep doing your best in whatever mood you are, for that’s art in its element too, isn’t it ?
So about Art and Magic that makes it one of a kind, I can say it’s better to be a MIRROR than a picture, it’s better to EXPRESS than impress, It’s better to REFLECT than to just Paint, that’s why the best ones have been the honest ones.
I do what puts me in that space, what connects me to the greater force in myself and what helps me discover a little more about myself, for that is an unending, exciting, breathtaking journey to be on.
My perseverance over the last five years has afforded both comfort to be classy and a dignified individual with endless opportunity to travel and paint alongside phenomenal master painters. Unshackled from my conditioning, unconstrained by economics of youth, I now am committed and have the totality to explore, pursue and manifest what burns in my belly and keeps me up at night.
It’s a blessing and a curse for lack of better words however it’s bringing me closer to my truth of expression every single day.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
Most of my work is in collection and some of it available is represented in different galleries.
I generally share my progress and upcoming work on Instagram where I feel I am inspired by sharing and supported.
