Today we’d like to introduce you to Nathan Benedict.
Nathan, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I was told I was tone deaf growing up. This was extremely tough to hear because of my love for music.
Regardless of what people said, I started a metalcore band called Abigail where I wrote lyrics and screamed. It wasn’t until college that I started believing that I could sing and play instruments. During this time, I started a band called Silent Planet (Rise Records) with Garrett Russell. When Silent Planet started experiencing success, I realized that I could and would pursue a career as a musical artist for the rest of my life. At that point, I started exploring different genres and have focused on Indie Folk songwriting for about 7 years. I released 15 songs as a solo artist and am now releasing music with a band called The Ateliers.
As I get older, my passion for creating all types of music grows. I want to make music that many people will connect with and be inspired by.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I started writing songs as a meditative way to process pain. Spending time doing this everyday helps me become the person I want to become. I hope that the songs I create give space for listeners to process their pain and experience comfort.
What would you recommend to an artist new to the city, or to art, in terms of meeting and connecting with other artists and creatives?
Put yourself in places where it is likely you’ll meet like-minded artists.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
I have a full length album called “Landscapes” that releases September 7th on all streaming platforms under the artist name “Nathan Benedict”.
