Today we’d like to introduce you to Brad Namdar.
Brad, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I’ve had a wide variety of experiences and positions, jobs and responsibilities from undergraduate school to present day, ranging from starting my own, award-winning social entrepreneurship at Southern Methodist University as an undergrad designed to benefit underprivileged children utilizing sports and other hobbies as a medium to mentor at-risk children, to being the first Estagio in the history of US Soccer and the MLS for FC Dallas, a college soccer head coach, a public school teacher, consultant, and now owning an art line and candle line.
It all started when I was an undergraduate student and a football player; I had an apartment and wanted it to smell nice, so I actually spent a fortune on candles! But I noticed that the wicks would die down early, so for fun, one day after football practice, I decided to try to make a candle and found it very therapeutic. This, in result, became a hobby of mine for the next 4 years, as I would make candles in my apartment as a de-stressor.
Throughout the jobs mentioned above, you can imagine the amount of stress I had, so in that time period I made over 500 candles. Then, due to my friends, fiancée and family’s advice, I signed up for a local market and sold them! It wasn’t until that market in December 2016 that I sold out of the 500 candles I had made.
A close family friend, who has been in the industry for many years, saw my candles at my family’s Thanksgiving dinner and was amazed at the quality of my product, so he referred me to the In Detail Showroom at the Dallas World Trade Center. They, in turn, were beyond floored by my candles and signed me on the spot.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
Our art line is truly one of a kind with great price points, diversity of mediums (acrylic, brushed metal, canvas prints, and ultra-board) with the option of sizing, and even custom printing. Regarding our message and inspiration, it’s pretty simple… what looks good and makes people look good? Everything in the world inspires us.
What do you know now that you wished you had learned earlier?
Art has always had a place in society that is constantly changing from ancient times to the renaissance to even today. Art represents society’s adaption in depicting where we are. At the same time, art is art. It’s used for comfort beauty and self-expression which is life.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
