Life and Work with Jessica Taylor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Taylor.

Jessica, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
As a young teenager, I knew that one day I would start a blog. I love writing and the creativity behind blogging. I have always been incredibly interested in everything having to do with fashion, beauty, wedding, and general lifestyle. I used to (& still do!) follow amazing women sharing their lives and couldn’t help but feel empowered by their platforms. This is what inspired me to create a blog that falls into the lifestyle category. I wanted to provide an inspiration to other women, just as other women inspired me.

I love sharing all aspects of my life, blending luxury with money-saving tips. I’m all about a babe on a budget with an occasional splurge (it’s all about balance, right?)! After graduating from San Diego State University with a business degree, I knew it was time to create my platform and officially launched Jessica Violet at the beginning of 2018.

Like most young women, I have been on a self-love journey and struggled with gaining confidence and love for myself. For years, I watched YouTube videos and read blogs created by successful and inspiring women, aspiring to be just like them. These women helped me get through my issues with my self-confidence, which has led me to want to be that same light for other women.

I am finally at a great place and want to provide a platform to promote self-love to everyone. I strive to present a place for women to enjoy themselves for a few minutes a day and remind themselves to do something they love and shine with confidence. I create my content to inspire and empower others.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Since starting Jessica Violet nine months ago, there have definitely been some struggles. I have had to learn a lot along the road and am still learning how to make my platform better each and every day. I struggled with occasional self-doubt, thinking that maybe I was making a mistake. Luckily, I shook that off and remembered my strengths, with the help of family, friends, and my fiance to constantly push me to be better.

Something that I definitely suggest to anyone who is just starting out on their journey is to be eager to learn. I scoured the internet and YouTube, looking for established women who offered their advice on how to be successful in this field. I reached out to other women through Instagram that was willing to provide me with their advice. Don’t be afraid to evolve!

Another piece of advice I can give is to remember why you started. You embarked on this journey because you have a passion for it. Don’t let anyone or anything stop you. It is challenging, but it’s so worth it.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Jessica Violet – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
As I mentioned earlier, my blog, Jessica Violet, is a lifestyle blog. I am passionate about fashion, beauty, wedding planning, and sharing my life with everyone. I strive to share my tips and tricks to help women be their best selves and gain self-confidence. As someone who has dealt with my own fair share of insecurities, I know first-hand how it feels. Being the light in a struggling woman’s life is something that I strive to do. I want to show women that you can achieve the life that you want, even while being budget-friendly. My platform is all about positivity and honesty. I desire to create an escape for women from their everyday life and inspire them to truly be themselves.

One of my favorite aspects of my channel is my wedding planning series. Planning a wedding is often one of the biggest stressors in a woman’s life and I hope to help decrease that stress by sharing my journey. I love being able to share my DIY projects, tips, and real-life lessons I’ve learned while planning my own wedding.

As for the name of my blog, I wanted to name it after myself. Violet is my middle name. It was actually my great-grandmother’s name. It’s something that I have cherished my whole life and knew that if I ever started a business or platform, it had to be incorporated into it somehow. And that’s how the name Jessica Violet came to fruition!

Are there any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve benefited from using?
Apps:

There is one app in particular that I most definitely have to mention and that’s Plann. As a blogger, social media is incredibly important but trying to come up with a picture to post every day can be difficult. I use Plann to map out my posts every week. I just upload my pictures to the app, write down my captions, and set post reminder times and that’s it! When you are ready to post, you just copy both the picture and the caption through the Plann app and it takes you straight to Instagram. It’s honestly so seamless. I usually take some time on Sunday to decide on my posts for the week. It’s so easy and it’s such a time saver!

Podcasts:

I am a big podcast listener. For blogging, social media, and starting a business, I love Girlboss Radio, The Influencer Podcast, and there’s often some good information on The YouTube Power Hour. To help with wedding planning, I love the Bridechilla Podcast. It’s great for brides and grooms who are all about no-nonsense wedding planning. The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast is fabulous. Lauryn Evart Bosstick, an amazing blogger from San Diego who I completely recommend following as well. She and her husband provide so much insight on everything from starting a business to skin care tips and tricks and I love it.

Books:

I love the book You Are A Badass. It really reminded me to stop self-doubting myself and that I am deserving of success. I highly recommend getting your hands on a copy!

Blogs/Influencers:

Like I mentioned above, The Skinny Confidential is a great blog to follow. Lauryn provides amazing content and is all about empowering women all over the world. Mallory Ervin and Alex Garza are two YouTuber/Influencers that are a must to follow. Both of these women are positive lights and bring so much love and joy into the world. All of these women are powerhouses and have definitely inspired me to do my best in life.
